Semi Final 2009-10 Season: March 1st 2010

|
A Summer to Remember
Celebrate together next week
|
The star studded 360s team is
confident of back-to-back premierships.
|
Win, lose or draw it has been an excellent summer of Monday night football thanks to the St. Ignatius College Riverview and especially Christopher McKenzie.
All players are invited to attend and to watch the final matches next Monday, to celebrate and raise money for charity. Drinks and a BBQ will be available so bring your family and friends.
Riverview Cup Final
With equally convincing wins to the 360s and Happy Mondays the Riverview Cup Final is shaping to be a tight encounter. Both teams conceeded only two goals during the normal season so a penalty shootout must be on the cards. The Happys will have to wear Bucknell & Koch like latex gloves to stop these goal scoring machines.
A difficult call but one just can't tip against the 360s. I'm calling a 360 win after a penalty shootout.
Riverview Plate Final
Amazing results in the Division two competition with the 3rd and 4th team knocking out their higher placed opponents in their semi-finals matches. The Siver Shadows conceeded an early goal while being 2 short and without substitutes could not find the legs later in the game to level the score against the St. Michaels #6 team. The first taste of defeat for the Silver Shadows EVER!
The Cockatoos also started with only 4 players against 6 for the Riverview #2 team. Their 5th player arrived mid way through the first half and they remained one short for the rest of the match.
Somehow the Cockatoos sneaked a quick breakaway goal early on and then held on until half time in spite of some very close calls, and quite a few shots from the skillful R2 strikers just going wide. A second breakaway goal came early in the second half, however it was danger when the R2s pulled one back soon after. It was only some dogged defence by the Cockatoos, to keep the R2s out and some unlucky close misses for the R2s.
It is impossible to call the final with both teams having had 9 wins and 5 losses during the season and fully expecting to be spectating next Monday evening. The Cockatoos finished higher on the ladder and this will probably be sufficient to win them the plate. I'm tipping a 2 all draw with the higher placed team taking the honours.
Make sure you come along. The final is a great way to end the season.
