Pagan Crusaders Repelled
The mighty St Michael's Womens O/35 Team has so far had 2 solid wins on the road. Francine's effort deservs a special mention after flying in from Canada on the morning of the match and playing a blinder.
They play their first home game this weekend @ Bob Campbell Reserve, Greenwich.
It is a Sunday game and kicks off @ 1:00 pm.
Lets get down an cheer the ladies on - partners, kids, friends and all club players are encouraged and welcome to come down and support the team.
A very entertaining and somewhat topical report this week by Gregg S keeping the military theme will liven your day. Still nobody can beat the Grorge W. Bush quote R.O.H.I.T. produced in his reort last week. Catch it here.
Thanks to those that delivered me almost 600 photos this week. Keep them coming. I will retain some for future rounds. read on for this week's collection.

President's Message
It is pleasing to see our ladies starting their season so well. Winning is nice however great acts of sportsmanship take the cake. Like the 4th div player from Mount Colah this week that turned down a penalty that would have won them the game.
It's inspiring.

Training Report
You have heard the expression 'you can only play as well as you train'. So what are you working on at training this week?
4R player Craig revealed a new celebration after scoring a miraculous goal on Saturday. Clearly the celebration needs some work - like a few thousand sit ups!

Referees Report
Diissent for a refs decision is an automatic warning, or yellow card. Refs should jump on this as a way of installing their control of the game.
Our ref Peter K has a different way of controlling the game. He passes less when playing than when he referees!
But where is his usual beer and sausage?
All sports are experiencing difficulties in recruiting referees. Next time you see Peter without a beer and sausage, please give him one. BBQ sauce is the preference I believe.

Goals came from quick ball movement through the mid field and quality finishing from Gita and Linda. A special mention also must also be made of Francine's effort after flying in from Canada on the morning of the match and playing a blinder. A well deserved result for a team that's developing very nicely.

St Michaels 3 - West Pymble Crusaders 3
Goal scorers:
Blake C 1, Nick L 1, Steve S 1
Seventeen April 2010, has become folk lore as the football knights of St Michael's repelled the invading pagan crusaders from the northland of West Pymble.
As the football knights gathered and watched the pagans perform their disciplined warm up drills the smell of the upcoming battle began to focus the minds on the challenge ahead.
Lord Dom of Riverview welcomed Sir Nick and Sir Steve to their first battle of the season and spoke quietly and calmly to the knights while giving out the battle orders.
The initial clashes of the two armies were fierce. The tempo of the battle was substantially higher than the knights previous victory over the Huns from Lindfield. Sir Matthew and Sir Jock continually challenged the pagan crusaders goal but the West Pymble goalie stood tall and allowed the Crusaders to continue their counter attack.
| The battle could have gone either way and it was the pagan crusaders who took advantage of the game and seized 2 goals from tactical errors. |
The first crusader goal came from a corner as the ball rebounded off a St Michael's knight from a shot from "Andrea the Giant" on the edge of the penalty box.

The second goal resulted from a defensive mix up and the slippery and fast #7 crusader placed a good shot past Sir Sayle.
The two armies retreated to regroup at half time with the pagans crusaders clearly feeling the battle had been won.
Lord Dom, Sir "Hair of Marc" and the Duke of Hughes gather the troops and spoke about returning to the tactics that the St Michaels knights had used to win many battles. Inspired and ready to ride again the St Michaels knights return to battle knowing the importance of scoring the first goal in the second half. The battle tempo rose and Sir Matthew scored our first with a low drive to the bottom corner. Not to be out down the crusaders charged again and scored their third goal from a free header off a corner.
Knowing that defeat was never an option Sir Hilly and "R-O-H-I-T the white knight" mounted a two man offensive that cut a path through the pagans that resulted in Sir Nick scoring our second goal. The battle had turned and the knights

of St Michaels were pushing back the invaders. Sir Paul calmly fired a canon just above the bar, Sir Sayle clashed in hand to hand combat and defeated a lone crusader soldier and Sir Blake took one for the team with a blow to the face from an incoming cannon ball. The pressure was building, the third goal inevitable with Sir Blake stepping up, firing the shot and scoring the equaliser.
Several more chances came the way of St Michaels, but we unable to the make the final killing before the truce was called.
The knights of St Michaels walked from the field of battle knowing that they had repelled the West Pymble Crusaders for now but also knew that they will return again for another round.
Thanks Chris for refereeing.
