Curl Curl Youth Club U10/4 v Manly Allambie Saturday, 12 June
On a bright and chilly morning at Abbott Road the Curly team were raring to go after many weeks of missed games. The game started well, with some good goal attempts from Reese followed by a goal scored by Darcy after some great teamwork. Mitch kept the Curl Curl goal safe with some strong defence and Ben rattled the opposition with two more attempts on the goal, one a dramatic shot from a great lead-up. Cole kept up the pressue on Manly Allambie with another two attempts at the goal.
After half-time Cole shone in defence with James supporting with a great save. Darcy scored another goal and then Will cleared the ball through the middle and set up yet another goal, executed again by Darcy. Unfortunately Allambie then took control of the ball and Curl Curl failed to clear it from the goal area, resulting in a goal by Allambie. Curl Curl then rose to the challenge and Mitch displayed some great goal clearance. The result was a convincing 3-1 win for Curl Curl.
Curl Curl Youth Club U10/4 v Wakehurst Sunday, 14 June
On a glorious long weekend Monday, the U10/4s and their band of loyal supporters turned up at Lionel Watts for a make-up game against Wakehurst. Darcy continued his brilliant goal-kicking form with an early goal and then Jasper thrilled the crowd with a 'World Cup'-style power kick that sailed over the opposition heads and slammed into the goal net. There was no respite for Wakehurst as shortly after Darcy again kicked home a goal after a clever cross from Sam.
At half-time Phil inspired and informed the boys and Lucas took charge in the second half with a great run down the side. Cole was tireless in his tackling and Tom worked on blocking and weaving. Reece pushed forward toward goal with an impressive piece of passing between the boys resulting in a goal by Sam.
The boys concentrated on maintaining their positions and displayed some strong attacking formations, resulting in a decisive 4-0 win against a higher-ranked team
