U6C v St John's
The babies of the club, this week, played against the biggest 6 year olds we have ever seen. Did this worry our little champs? No way!! The took them on and tackled like players with much more experience them.
It is good have Levi back with his smiling face and enthusiasm.
Lucas had is radar tuned into the right goals this week and made his usual runs through the pack.
Georgie had no fear as usual and tackled like she was wrestling with her brothers.
Luke was our super blocker at the back gallantly running down the breaks.
Claire continues to improve and gain confidence each week.
As we hear each week "We won because we had fun" was the catch phrase again. One week to go in a fun year!!
10/5 v Kellyville Loss 2-1
Both teams were pretty even skill wise but again Jarod our goalie extraordinaire kept the team in the game. Jacob, Elie and Gabriella put a 110% effort to make up the shortage of players. Jon again outclassed his opponents managing a few good shots and scoring our goal. Emily and Seb defended well. Joel was solid in sweeper and keeps getting better each game. Jack and Fraser kept trying to break the line and didn’t stop all game. I believe with a full team we could have won but the players out there today made us all very proud.
10/5 v Kellyville Draw 1-1
Ok now we had a full team but no reserve and this time it was a lot closer. Each player knew what was expected and they all ran and defender with gusto. This is a team that shows so much potential and quickly developed skills to bring them this close to final contention. They have all learnt something this year and each player has improved their skills since they began. Wonderful game to watch and be a part of and really difficult to choose a P.O.M since all the players put a big effort in today. Considering both games P.O.M awarded to Jacob with Merits awards Elie, Jarod, Joel and Jon.
O36/6 v St Michael’s Loss 1-3 (Sat)
We probably expected an easier game but they ambushed us. There was no co-ordination and too much bickering! We played their game and it took a while to get our composure back but the game was already lost by then. Positives from this game were Boffa scoring another one of his speculator goals which keeps him in the running for highest scorer. This was our worst effort yet and only our 2nd loss of the year but it shook the team out of its complacency and rammed home the message! If we want to win this comp we have to work as a TEAM and play our game.
O36/6 v St Michael’s Loss 1-3 (Sun)
New day different attitude as everyone wanted to make amends for the loss. Our players arrived early and there was a lot of eager tension in the air. They scored first but we didn’t flinch and this time we rallied together to score next. The referee controlled the game well and our constructive communication meant we were getting in the zone. This was a tough game against a determined and skilful side and we all had to put in a big effort. Andy scored twice putting him in the top goal scorer spot and Fordy who also scored twice is snapping at Andy and Boffa’s heels. Ando used his noggin to stop a rocket of a shot and certain goal. The backs marked tight and limited shots at our goal. Our mids used their excellent ball skills to control the centre and the forwards bustled and weaved through for shots. With great support from the management/coaching staff and heaps of supporters throughout the year we have come from losing our first game 0-6 to being the “Minor Premiers”!!Now to get on with the job and do what we do best.
AAL5 v Kellyville (Thursday) Loss 0-7
We forgot how to play and started like our first game. Disorganised, chasing the same players, no communication. A real pity because last time we kept them scoreless in the 2nd half. A valuable lesson learnt that hopefully won’t be forgotten for next year.
AAL5 v Rouse Hill Loss 0-2
Renai- good calling for the ball, a few close goals but great playing
Cat - amazing covering skills and hard hits
Kylie - great header, were you concussed?!
Naomi - out with injury but good attacking before that
TB - with your sad news we appreciate you coming to play, hope you're ok.
Helen - good fast playing as forward and back
Nic - lots of headers and you did a great job out front almost by yourself when the rest of us were up the back
Jane - aka Mrs yang!!! Don't know how you managed to concentrate but you did a great job, even scoring a goal that for some reason, didn't count.
Emma - you get the award for most improved skills for today's game, stopping the ball and looking up before kicking it on whilst maintaining great speed.
Nadia - great motivator, good Enzo impersonator and quite a few lucky saves.
Pecky - you owned the net in the second half, you've got a great set of lungs on you screaming at us all.
Rach - took some hard hits and got body slammed!!! You were always at the little pocket where no one else was, meaning you kicked balls back to our end and away from their goals
Steph - I still don't understand why I was pulled up for attacking that girl but I hope it hurt!
End of the season is nearing and we were unlucky with today's 0-2 loss... We definitely could have won against those girls, they only had 1 strong forward, but there's quite a few of us with lingering serious injuries that are making us suffer as a team. Lets win the last two games.
