This week is round 18 which will bring us to a conclusion of the season for our SSG and competitive teams who cannot make the semifinals.
February quickly becomes August, and you wonder where the season has gone!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope those of you who are new to the club have enjoyed your first year with Ermington -I hope the soccer experience has been good, and you have noticed the "family orientation" that we have -it is the quality we are most proud of.
Please remember the presentation dates, and if you are the coach or manager or coordinator of one of our teams please bring all your gear back at the coaches and managers B.B.Q on the (19/9/10).
If you are unavailable to do so then, can you please speak to Stephen Lee or Marylou McNamara about another time when you can return your team's gear.
Where the semis are concerned, we have 6 teams in contention - 9/5's (2nd) 10/3 (5th) 12/5 (3rd)14/2 (1st) 35/6 (3rd) and our AAL team is also running 1st - WELL DONE LADIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tough U9's game that was!!
|
Ian will have all the semis info in next week's DRIBBLE, and there is also a strong chance that we may be hosting semis at George Kendall next week so please stay tuned, as we will need a lot of club assistance to make this day a success.
Good luck to those teams in semi contention this weekend -and for all other teams small and large enjoy your last game for season 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers
Wayne.

U6C v St John’s, Auburn (5-1)
A good win with great goals from Thomas and Isa. Excellent defensive effort from Gracie, Keira, William, Luke and Sam. It was the last game of the season for Luke and he will be back next year for sure! All the Dads are taking a turn to be the on-field Coach and it was Daniel’s (William’s Dad) turn this week. Quang (Gracie & Keira’s Dad) was the Coach the week before and Moazzam (Isa’s Dad) prior to that – we had good wins for all these games and the Dads seemed to enjoy their time on the field.
Great Team work from the U10/5's
|
10/5 v Wenty Waratah Win 3-0
Coach Peter mixed the team positions today and the kids
really enjoyed the chance to shine. The players worked well together in
their different positions and with some good passing soon Anthony scored
his first goal. Our defence was too strong against a capable team with
some big kickers and our goalie never really touched the ball. Later
Jarrod scored his first goal and after Mathew scored his first goal it
was all over bar the shouting. Which Coach Peter did at the canteen with
lollies for all. Well done
U11/2 v Castle Hill RSL Win 2 - 1
A great effort from these kids. 100% effort for the entire 50 minutes. George lost a little more hair, but the team made him proud. Started with nine players, then Dexter arrived a little later and showed his dominance. A little later Jordan turned up ready to get into the action. A soft goal scored by Jayden in the first half when the keeper fumbled the ball, seen the Ermo parents rehearsing for the Toyota ads. Half time talk was positive and clear, “We can win this kids” and win it they did. Second half was as fiercely fought as the first half. Our second goal came when Jayden crossed an awesome ball from outside the 18 yard box under pressure to land in front of the sticks with Jack positioned well to find the back of the net.
After the opposition scored their goal the defense of Alani, Curtis and Dexter, along with our midfield had made their mind up there will be no more goals, thus defending appropriately.
An entertaining game to watch!

Goal to the U12/5 Giants!!!

U12/5's v Granville Waratahs Draw 3-3
This was a good lesson for us today against a very fast team who ambushed us in the opening 15 minutes. I hope that this game takes away the idea that this is an easy competition and we have to do is turn up and win. We played like we have had 2 weeks rest everyone waiting for someone else to do something, standing like statues, watching the ball go past us. If we do not stop the ball going past our last line of defense with good ball control they are too fast for us to catch, we must not let the ball go past us use your body to block the ball. Having said that we hung in there with lady luck on our side today and showed that we have team spirit and will keep going the full game. We will have another hard game next week against the leaders and this is possibly the best preparations for the finals we can get. We must lift, we must work, we must think, but we still need to enjoy the game. There will be no more easy games this year. Treasure your games. Well done to all.
U35/3 v Baulkham Hills Win 2 - 1
It was the battle of George Kendal, today with Ermo the victors. Once again friendships where re established and pleasantries exchanged to make this game a tough contest. During my four years playing ermo 35's this team would have to be ranked near the top for effort and a never say die attitude. For effort and a never say die attitude. For 2nd last (ermo) to defeat 2nd Baulko is a great effort, Ermo got the early 1st half goal and held on for a well earned magic water. Baulko came out strong in the second half and got what must be said was an easy equalizer (can't catch, can't throw). Heads went down for a short time until Spencer was brought down in the box with Louis taking the winning shot. Spencer was lying in pain when he was brought down but was ignored by everyone as a get together was called for. The tackle was discussed in an open and frank manner. With everyone friends once again,
we held off the final attacking raids to come home the winners. One game to go lets make it a winner.
O35/6 v Baulkham Hills Win 3-0
Even though there was a relaxed atmosphere amongst the players we new we had to win this game to stay in the top 4. The Ref

|
stamped his authority early with a yellow card against us (a first for a few years). However dead eye Lance scored the first point from a penalty inside the box to get things going. Though there was a lack of communication and cobwebs from the break in game time we held off for the first half. Big improvement by all the players in the 2nd half with constructive communication being a key factor. Christo slipping the ball just past the goalie to finished a nice passing move up the ranks. The final goal was a great team effort but shortly before full time a red card was shown to Christo who can be a bit hot headed and foul mouthed which was a disappointing end to a good win. Spud also pulled off a great diving save to keep his sheet clean. Thanks to Gordy, Rowdy and Tiger Lee for all the work behind the scene.
