|
Hi Everyone
As our fearless leader has been out of action there is no official quick word for this week. There are a few things that we need to make sure everyone is aware of in the coming weeks.
We have had to postpone our U8 gala day because of the wet weather and all the catch up games that have had to be scheduled in the comng weeks. We are looking at 24th June at the moment and the committee will let everyone one know, once the date has been finalised.
In relation to the gala day, the final date for the raffle has been pushed out along with the gala day. The is further information about the raffle later in the newsletter.
For all the Coaches and Managers, please check the Granville website for your results. If there are any missing results please let the commitee know so that they can chase them with the association.
Good luck on the week end. Looks like the weather is with us for the rest of this week at least.

U8's vs Granville Tahs - loss 3-2
Well finally after all the cancelled trainings and games we played our first game together and what a great first up game. Playing against a team of boys did not deter the girls in our team at all with all girls Zoe, Keira, Michelle, Katelyn, Alana and both Olivia's really getting stuck in to these boys. We started the game off very well and scored a great first goal to take the lead. To the Tah's credit they came back in to the game and scored the next three goals. They could have scored a few more too if was not for our great scramble defense. The boys Jarod, Jayden & James did some good lead up work for our goals and Lachlan made some telling saves for his first time as goalkeeper. There could be a lot of special mentions for this game but there was clearly one stand out player today who received the days trophy and that was our rampaging defender Olivia V stopping & clearing everything that came near her. So a great game by all considering all the lack of match practice and training. We just need to remember to stop tackling each other and really hunt for the ball when the opposition have it but this will come with more training and time. Fingers crossed with regards to the weather and looking forward to another game next week.
12/4 Granville Waratahs 0 - 0
We played the Granville Waratahs in a nil-all draw in a spirited match on a bright and sunny pitch. Fortunately the weather of the last 3 weeks held off and we didn't need the scuba gear! The 3 week break meant we were a little rusty but a great effort was shown by all. Granville had some great chances and we were fortunate to have some good defence from our backs and Dominic our keeper, kept a clean sheet. Our forwards had several great chances with support from the midfield. Our player of the week was Joseph who was committed in defence and chased everything. Well done everyone!
13/4's V's Wenty Waratahs 1-1 Draw
There is nothing between these teams and it was yet another draw, just to prove it.
With both teams a bit rusty and feeling each other out in the opening part of the game, Wenty were the first to score. This team has shown that they do not give up and fought their way back with a fine team goal. You can see the individual improvement of each player, with each one of them at sometime during the game showing great awareness and game smarts, with the passing and movement off the ball a great and pleasing thing to see. It is still only the first step in your soccer education and it's looking better all the time. This team can only get better and will get better when each individual continues to work and improve as they have done. Todays game was an exciting game to watch and to be part of remember game day starts Wednesday, train hard and the rewards will come.
Goal by Nick. Well done.
35/5's V's Wenty Waratahs Win 1-0
Well that shuts me up! we won. If we keep going we will be in Div 4 next year. The break was long enough for everyone to be keen and wanting to play. Craig wore his new $240.00 white boots and nothing got passed him today he is probably still shocked. Richard (Mom) played a blinder in a backline that brought the ball down and looked for support from our midfield who worked hard all day. Big Bill had a target on him and was taken down a few times, but we where unable to bury that second goal, but one was enough and we hung on to record our first win, Pralan in scoring the goal was death ridden by the bench for trying to beat the whole backline but it got there in the end. It feels good to win, lets enjoy it and hope there are many more to come. Everyone played well today.

Once again we find ourselves at the start of a new season of soccer at Ermington United.
As you can appreciate clubs are run on the support of its members and volunteers whether a player, supportive parent, team coaches, team managers, committee members and we thank you all very much for that support.
Another way that we could help support our club is by way of sponsorship. our Ermington United Sponsorship Opportunities 2011 brochure is attached below for you to present to your employer or your own business, in the hope they may be looking to advertise that business locally.
Thanks again for your continued support of the Ermington United Club in the past and in the future and I hope you all have a great soccer season in 2011.
