Season 2011: April 13th - Edition No. 2

|
|

|
Hope everyone enjoyed their games last weekend - we had more win than losses, and if managers have been sending their reports to Ian on ianandsu@gmail.com everyone will be able to follow the progress of their team and others as the season progresses !!!!!!
With Easter almost upon us and school holidays in progress, can I remind all players and parents that we do have a round of soccer on this weekend (16th April for mixed and men's, and the ladies on the 17th April)
We know that some people may be missing during this period, so can players and parents please inform their coaches and managers about their availability at training on WEDNESDAY(13/4/11) so coaches know their team situation for the weekend.
If possible, coaches can then borrow players to help out, and worst case scenario in the case of SSG they may forfeit the game if numbers are too low. Please realise that coaches and managers need information early so they can hopefully field teams during this holiday period - your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
At our last soccer meeting, we briefly discussed the need for a social event for the adults in 2011, we missed out last year, and people have asked that we try and hold one this year.
These nights are no longer major fund raisers, but more an opportunity to socialise amongst club members.
We will keep you posted about this, and when a decision is made it will be put in the weekly DRIBBLE - so stay tuned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not much more to say at this time - please be punctual if your team has ground set up on a Saturday at George Kendall, or your team is rostered on to help in the canteen, and finally, please inform your coach or manager if you or your child is unavailable to play this weekend.
Enjoy your soccer !!!!!!!!!!
Yours in Soccer,
Wayne Kelly.

U6A v Rydalmere FC
Wow what a start, 3 from 3 ( 2 of them trials). The kids have clicked this year by kicking the ball the right way and scoring for our team not the opposition. Its great to see all the kids enjoying themselves as well as getting goals. We won 5-2 against Rydalmere at home with Ryan Man of the Match. Goals were scored by Myles (2), Lars (2) and Ryan (1). Bring on next weekend the kids are ready.
U6B v Granville Rage
The Under 6 B's travelled to play the "Granville Rage" at Ray Marshall Oval in south Granville. In a picture perfect sunny Saturday morning both team's took the field full of energy after some minor delay's due to a lack of ground officials.
In a highly entertaining and energetic game the Rage finished on top 5-3. Both sides played very well and gave 100%. Ermington had 3 fantastic Goal scorers in Alex Watkins, Saad Siddiqui and Nathan Logan. All goals came off the back of some great team work and neat passes from Nabeel Siddiqui and Taylor Lenard. All 5 kids defended very well and helped each other.
The Ermington kids tried very hard and were very tired at the end of the game as it went from end to end for the full 30 minutes. Both Coach and Manger were very proud of our team's effort and team work and the kids were smiling at the end of the game.
Also happy to report that the kids all shook hands before and after the game and all parents on both sides were very well behaved and also shook hands at the end of the match.
A great Saturday morning.
U6C v Granville Waratahs
This was the first game for the baby’s of our club. They were all ready to take on their much larger opponents. These littlies have come a long way in a few short weeks. The first week that they trained they were lucky to understand where they were supposed to kick the ball .. With this in mind we were expecting tto have to give lots of instructions one how tto play the game. To our surprise the 6C’s these little champs knew where to kick the ball with little direction. We managed to put one goal in off our own boot, well done Levi, and would have had another had the opposition not confused soccer with rugby and pick the ball up just before it rolled into the goals. We also got another goal courtesy of our opposition. Although out bigger opponents managed to score more goals then us, the 6C’s showed a lot of promise for a team comprised of four and five year olds . Well done kid!!!

U9 v Castle Hill Win 6 - 0
What a great start to the season !
Also, what is even more special is that it is our first win as a team as we did not win any games last year in U8s.
We looked like a soccer team from kick-off. Formation was good and our forwards, mids and backs all played a great game.
We were up 2 nil at half time and the second half was even more impressive.
Keeper Bradley did not get too much traffic but when the ball did come his way. He was solid and pre season is paying off. The other team members were outstanding including Jade, Jayden, Brandon, David, Adam and Holly. Special thanks to Olivia from U8s for playing up. You were great.
POM - the team. Goals: Holly 5 and Jade 1.
Well done !!
U10/5 v Greystanes Loss 2-5
What a great team effort in the first half with everyone running and staying in their positions. Jonathan scored the 2 goals in the 1st half keeping both teams equal for the start of the next half. Jarod in goals played really well and if not for his skills more goals would have been scored. Our teams lack of fitness showed in the last quarter as Greystanes started running around and
through us. Joel William was solid in the backs and kept running the whole match which earned him the P.O.M award. It is still early and we can only get better, go team!
U11/3 v Pendle Hill 3 - 0 Win
by Ethan Garrett
A magnificent game from Ermo with a 3 - nil win. A great start to the season. James Coco, man of the match with 2 goals, one goal to Mitchel, over the keepers head. Ethan took a beautiful free kick hitting the keepers hand and just going out for a corner. Well done to Jonty, Nathan and our two keepers, Liam and Ethan. A magnificent start to the season.
U12/2 v Castle Hill United 2 - 1 Win
A fantastic win to start our season. I`m very proud of the way our team played with confidence and persistance. Our defence was very strong and organised which was lead by CAPTAIN Dexter and helped by Alani and Jake.
We scored two great goals on either side of half time, both scored by Jack. The second goal was beautifully set up by Eddy. One blunder in our box and we gave away a penalty which was almost saved by Jayden, great effort. Our BEST ON FIELD was Jonah who showed great skill and speed to keep beating his opposition on numerous occasions.Once again great result but we have to keep working hard especially at training.
13/4 v Kellyville Win 6 -2
Welcome back Michael Nardone. What an outstanding display of team work today with the scoreboard showing the difference in skill,
between the two teams. There is still work to be done don't think that one game is a whole season there is a long way to go.
It was a nice game to watch as passes where made and players moving to support the ball carries, thats teamwork and that wins games.
That game was a great way to start the season, keep turning up to training ready to go hard, game day starts Wednesday night.
Enjoy the win as always. Goals to Aiden 3, Nick 2, Zac 1. Along with the goals came great defence and midfield support play.
Well done team.
U15/1v Pendle Hill Win 5-0
A spectacular start to Season 2011 - great teamwork, passing and defence were on display in the re-match against our grandfinal opponents.
The first 15 mins saw us dominate the attack with some great work by Jake. In the 18th minute Blake took the ball in close and made a great cross to Conor who tapped it passed their goalie. A few minutes later Corey made a great pass to Steve to passed on for Conor to score his second. The defence and midfield kept the ball in our possession so that Jake, Tharlon and Luke could take some shots at goal. Great midfield work by JD and Corey, extrarodinary work by Anderson.
In the second half, dogged hassling and chasing by Jake resulted in his first goal for the season. Pendle Hill tried to strike back but some great saves by Max and some passionate defence kept the score at 3-0. A few minutes later Corey took the ball up and scored his first for this season. Everyone was starting to tire, but Ermo kept up the intensity to deny Pendle Hill any chances. With just a few minutes left on the clock, Corey raced away to score his second goal.
Well played everyone, great teamwork.
35/5 V's Castle Hill R.S.L Loss 6-1
Bill won the toss and that is where the winning ended. Nil all at half time with the half time vibe positive, it looked like we might come home strong. The second half was only about 30 seconds old when they got their first. Everyone tried hard and kept trying we lost our positions a bit with the subs that we where making and minor injures taking a toll on numbers. This team has a good feel to it and the opposition will have to earn their wins, keep your heads up and enjoy the game the rewards will come. Floyd scored I thought he won lotto.
Can we please turn up a full 1/2 hour before kick off, Thanks.

Once again we find ourselves at the start of a new season of soccer at Ermington United.
As you can appreciate clubs are run on the support of its members and volunteers whether a player, supportive parent, team coaches, team managers, committee members and we thank you all very much for that support.
Another way that we could help support our club is by way of sponsorship. our Ermington United Sponsorship Opportunities 2011 brochure is attached below for you to present to your employer or your own business, in the hope they may be looking to advertise that business locally.
Thanks again for your continued support of the Ermington United Club in the past and in the future and I hope you all have a great soccer season in 2011.
