My final message this week is for assistance down at George Kendall this Saturday, where we are hosting semi-finals.
This is the canteen's last hoorah for 2010 ,and to be a success we will need plenty of help - so if you can lend a hand for an hour or two on the B.B.Q, serving in the canteen or acting as a ground official, your help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!
Good luck to everyone on the weekend, and I hope to see you at a game!!!!!!!!!!

U6C V St Joseph Win (2-1)
|

Thomas in action, pursuing the ball to get a goal!
|
It was an excellent win for the Ermo Under 6C on Saturday. Although St Joseph’s Under 6 has very good players, there was nothing that would stop the Ermo Under 6C from winning. Isa made a lot of excellent passes to Thomas who ended up scoring all the goals. Isa always tried his best to pass whenever possible to Thomas who kept pursuing the ball despite pressures from the other team. Sam, Gracie and William all have done a wonderful job in their defence play. There were several opportunities for the other team to score but Sam’s quick thinking and big kicks stopped them from scoring. William and Gracie put pressure by not giving up in trying to get the ball whenever they had a chance. Thomas’s dad, John did the coaching and was excellent in giving simple instructions to the team which worked very well giving Ermo a win. It was a very happy Saturday morning for the Ermo team but at the same time, everyone felt sad as the soccer season ends.
U9/5 v Winston Hills 2-1 loss
Another close game, with Ermington just out-played by a determined Winston Hills. A scoreless first half owed much to the defensive skills of Jack and Jacob, and the safe hands of Joel the goalie (who also backed up with a strong second half in attack). Mack and Tom gave the Winston Hills defence plenty of work. Geordie won Man of the Match for his battering ram attack and defence; Ned and Seb shared the X-factor award.
The loss came down to a couple of quick lapses early in the second half. While this was a little disappointing, as the last game of the season, the evident improvement in the soccer skills of all players was a great testament to the hard work put in by Dugald and Nigel over the season (please don’t edit this portion guys!). Thanks also to Louise for organising fourteen boisterous youngsters and their often sleepy parents.
Sudden death next weekend – good luck Ermo!

10/5 v Winston Hill Draw 1-1
With a full squad against a team with equal abilities this was always going to be a close game. All the action stayed in the middle of the field with lots of wayward kicking from both sides. Occasionally there would be a break towards a goal, which would soon be stopped by some good defending. The score was a good indication of how even the teams where. This was an enjoyable friendly game with all the players chasing the ball, having fun and the spectators enjoying the show and the sun.
12/5's Ermo V's Pendle Hill win 2 - 1
What a great game to finish off the season. Each player this year have had during the season games and moments that will be remember and expanded upon in later years. Against a very strong team we worked our 2 early goals and then never looked like getting back in their half our defence worked their legs off only leaking one goal in the second half. Nothing really beats the look on a young players face when they have done something that they don't normally do, Moments of great deeds like Connor stopping shots that should be goals, Ryan pouncing like a well oiled spring on to a missed timed dribble, Jordan and Aaron making the opposition forwards wonder what they have to do to get past these guys, Joel Cutler prowling the middle of the park like the wind closing down movements before they begin, who with Harry put part of their body in the way of the ball. We had Ben and Nick our bulldogs into everything and everywhere giving 100% for every game its on their face these guys want to compete. Joel Logan would have to be near the top of the list for most improved player and he listens to what you say and tries to work the move, he has also scored some great goals this year. Simon is turning into a crafty little play maker who has been taken out with some big hits this year. Zac, Aiden and Mathew work hard every game with a level of skill and commitment to the game that you want to see in all young people a genuine love of the game. This team has scored some really great team and individual goals this year, but my best where from Harry & Paolo players you are so happy for to grab a great goal each. Every player in this team needs to be proud it takes a team effort to make the finals. The work begins now it's a new competition a new level. But remember enjoy the game above all else. A great win a great season.
35/3's Ermo V's Kellyville Win 2 - 0
Well we did it we won the last three games in a row. A good game today with both sides with nothing to play for, it was still a hard open game with Ermo giving nothing away. I saw a human bounce today when pocket rocket Ange ran into a player with the nickname of Shrek, Ange was bounced into the next field and Shrek wondered what that mossie was. Frank was at it again today meeting up with old friends and sharing old news.
Cameron went into goals and did nothing, Colin the normal keeper went onto the field and ran like a 50 year old (slowly) that makes Cameron the second best keeper behind George, as Cameron did not let any goals in. We missed our normal halftime talk as everyone was talking about the footy so because we where not reved up we scored no goals in the second half. Well this is it for the year 2010 a few players will not be coming back (the body failing).
The season 2011 cannot come fast enough. Enjoy the off season, have a happy xmas, get fit and lets show them what Ermo can do. Lets all support the teams from Ermo in the semi's and don't forget the ladies team on Sunday.

O35's Defence in Action
|
We wanted a win to finish in the top two and with an early goal we looked on track, but they quickly equalized. We need to tighten up after a goal and not lose concentration. There was a lot of jostling in the middle and the backs were kept busy with their quick passing. From the sideline it looked like the team was in 3rd gear so it was no surprise when Pendle scored again for a half time lead of 2-1. There was more commitment after the break but still not all players were chasing the loose ball. Everyone has to put a 100% the whole game. After rushing their goalie that spilt the ball we were even at 2-2. Their next goal was a cracker from outside the penalty area and we were behind again 3-2. The last 15 min we found 4th and 5th gear and totally dominated in their half equalising at 3-3 and though we had several more shots, which were saved in desperation, we couldn’t find the winner. The team showed lots of guts in the last quarter, lets take that with us into the next game.
