How about that rain last Saturday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It really caught us all out, as the weather predictions were for showers - the good news was we still played at George Kendall.
We played a few SSG and competitive games, but the following teams will play catch up games sometime early after Easter, either on SUNDAY (15/5/11) or (23/5/11) - they are 11/3,12/2 and our Senior 1's, there are no catch games for SSG.
I hope everyone is looking forward to Easter, it is always a great time to catch up with family and friends, but it will also be the last free weekend for the next 16 weeks - I have checked with our soccer schedule and we now play right through from May till August !!!!!!!!!!!!
This means the long weekend in June (where we will play Saturday ,and possibly Monday if there are any catch up games) and also right through the July school holidays - Saturdays - 2/7, 9/7, 16/7.
Please be aware of all these dates and if you anticipate being away please inform your coach and manager, so they can cover for you by borrowing from other teams, if possible.
Not much more to report on this week - have a lovely Easter, and I hope the Easter Bunny is kind to you !!!!!!!!!!!!
Yours in Soccer,
Wayne Kelly.

U6C v Auburn FC
Tough second game for the little tackers!! The tried hard and had a lot of fun but Auburn looked the more experienced team. As with last week they didn't require too much instructions. This team is soooo much better then the first training session it is hard to believe they are the same kids. Keep having fun little ones!!
Thanks to Ethan for volunteering to Ref and to Eva and Claire for helping out the U6A's.
U10/5 v Pendle Hill Loss 3 - 5
Definitely a game of two halves with our team looking fit and chasing the ball with gusto. Jonathan scored first and the mids Sebastian, Fraser and Jack worked well together to keep the pressure up. Jarod, Ella and Nejtheh in the forwards showed some good skills and team work. Our backs Josh, Jacob and Elie for most of the game were strong in defence. Joel was the goalie this week and played really well saving some hard shots at goal. As the rain came down our team kept trying. Jarod scored twice in the 2nd half by being in the right position and waiting for the ball to come to him. Although this is a new team the skills shown are promising and the development will improve each week.
Player Of the Match “Jarod Baker” .
13/4 v Lidcombe Churches Draw 3 -3
What a day to be a duck! With what is possibly the wettest conditions that many of this team have played in, Knowing how to play wet weather football is something that comes with experience. The result is a just result for todays game with both teams working hard for each ball. There where some outstanding periods of play which more than not resulted in their goals. With our team continuing to work the ball, personal ball security now has to become a priority, we must value and own the ball more than we do, when we lose the ball to easy we let the opposition straight back in (own the ball). In the wet conditions today you can all hold your heads up, you all did a good job to come from behind. Goals, Harry, Simon and Ben.
As always heads up.
U15/1 v Greystanes Loss 4 - 1
Despite the teeming rain, the playing surface was quite solid, and for the first 15 minutes we kept Greystanes on their toes. Three quick goals showed us why they are the premiers of division 1. They blocked and defended every move we made. It rained harder, Max made some great saves. Our attack kept the pressure on and was rewarded with a goal to Cameron. The rain eased off and then rained harder again. Everyone played as well as possible in the conditions.
35/5 v Pendle Hill Loss 12 - 0
Sack the captain! Today Richie won the toss but again that's all we won. Thanks to Matt, I hope everyone knows not to drop the F bomb it is a RED CARD guys.
With everyone turning up 1/2 hour early (not) it looked like it was going to be a hard slog, in the end we played with 10 and all 10 tried until the final whistle with a zero score that means Floyd is still leading goal scorer at least we have a for and against. Craig our keeper made some great saves, but still had some dry spots, Richie as usual ran all day along with Matt & George, the great thing so far is that no one has given up we are still trying. This year will not be easy, but we have a five year rebuilding plan. Thanks to Frank who spent a wet day on the sidelines. Please can we turn up a full 1/2 hour before the game. Thank you.
35/6 V North Rocks Draw 2-2
This was a rare opportunity for the old boys to remember what it was like to play in the mud.
The rain was the main factor in this game with half the field covered in puddles, the ball was stopping dead and passes travelling only inches. The teams were pretty even but we had the edge in the mud as this suited our style of play. Spud in goals saved a certain match winner with Dominic and Geno having good games.
The team improved significantly from the last game and everyone really put in. Our new international, off season signing Andy on his maiden game scored both goals and is leading the tally board. Fortunately no injuries in the slippery conditions just very wet and cold old fellas.
Senior 10's
No report but here are a few pictures.

Once again we find ourselves at the start of a new season of soccer at Ermington United.
As you can appreciate clubs are run on the support of its members and volunteers whether a player, supportive parent, team coaches, team managers, committee members and we thank you all very much for that support.
Another way that we could help support our club is by way of sponsorship. our Ermington United Sponsorship Opportunities 2011 brochure is attached below for you to present to your employer or your own business, in the hope they may be looking to advertise that business locally.
Thanks again for your continued support of the Ermington United Club in the past and in the future and I hope you all have a great soccer season in 2011.
