Weather is inclement again as I write, so this week's training could be in doubt.

Who is on the BBQ?
|
For those who attended Betty
Cuthbert's monument unveiling at the
Ermington shops on Sunday, we once again had the opportunity to meet a
local sporting icon!!!!!!!!!
Betty was extremely humble ,and very excited about being honoured with
this monument as well as the key to Parramatta.
The Lord Mayor - Paul Garrard spoke very kindly of Betty, and after the
proceedings,a few of the soccer community as well as other local
dignitaries attended a function at the Dundas Sports Club.
It was a great day for Ermington ,and hopefully the young people in our
community will be respectful of this honour, and suitably look after
the monument over the coming years.
We have a big weekend at George Kendall this week, as we are hosting
another round of the women's competition on Sunday (27/6/10) as well as
our normal Saurday Round 12 matches on 26th June. If you think you can
lend a hand on the B.B.Q, or in the canteen on Sunday, that would be
greatly appreciated.
We hope to confirm the date for the "barefoot bowls " day in next week's
DRIBBLE -so stay tuned !!!!!!!!
Have a great weekend of soccer.
Cheers
Wayne. |

All eyes on the ball in defense mode while Luke is about to attack the ball!
|
U6C v St Joseph Rydalmere
Draw 0-0
It was a very busy Saturday morning at George Kendall with the team photos happening during the games. With Gracie away this weekend, it was a tough game for the boys to match the skills that the St Joseph team has. Luke and William played their very best and helped Sam prevent the other team from scoring. Sam’s big kicks in defence stopped very close goals from the opposing team. Isa and Thomas tried very hard by doing excellent passes and both did not give up in pursuing the ball to try and score. However, both teams played an excellent and clean game - much better than the last encounter, resulting in a draw. Well done to both teams!
U7A v Granville Waratahs Win 1-0
First of all, thank you to everyone for getting there on time for the photos. I am sure they will look fantastic!! A fantastic game again today by all. We started off really well and could have had a couple of early goals. Some great defence & clearances by Jared, Olivia & Zoe also kept us in the game, going in to the break 0-0. We started the second half very brightly and seemed to have a lot more running than the opposition. Some great breaks by Connor & Lachlan and big kicks up the field by James kept us pressing for the goal. With 5 mins to go it looked like it would be a stalemate.....Enter Alana with a fantastic goal to take the game 1-0. A great all round performance & winning goal by Alana saw her take the player of the match award. A fantastic effort against an all boys and what looked like under 12's team. I can't wait till next week.
U9/5 v Winston Hills Win 1-0
Saturday’s match saw Ermington grind out a 1-0 victory against third placed Winston Hills as the home side struggle back to into form. Another frustrating first half produced a lot of action in the opposing goal mouth but no reward, although Jack came close with some mighty kicks. For the third week in a row Josh and Jacob diffused a number of raids into our half, ably assisted by Seb. This week’s standout though was the co-operation between the forwards; Tom, Jon and Geordie kept Winston Hills on the back foot for most of the game, finally fooling the defence with some quick passing that culminated in a goal. Ned, Eli and Cohen kept the ball up there so the forwards had something to work with. A rough but effective win, and a definite improvement on last week’s performance.

Marks post match speech has the player’s riveted
|
U10/5 v North Rocks Loss 0-1
The results say a loss, but to all of us there they won that game. Coach Peter changed tactics since the last match against an intimidating side of extra large players and we went on the attack from the kick-off. Hanif, Elie, Mathew & Trey lead the charge in the forwards and had a few attempts at goal throughout the match. Trey showing good throw- in skills and Elie danced around the big defence. The midfield of Stephanie, Anthony and Brandon pushing the ball up, kept the pressure on. Gabriella kept shutting down each striker they tried with good marking and being able read the game. Our backs Jack, Nathan & Theo did a great job stopping goal attempts early and goalie Jarrod keeps getting better with each game. The best part was all the players lifted their skill and enthusiasm for this game and really showed that it’s not size that counts but heart and mind. Keep the spirit up and keep climbing that ladder.
U12/5 v Norwest Win 6-0
I am putting this Norwest team down as the team we play our worst games against.
Our positional play today was two lines half up the front half down the back, nothing in between. As in every game we play in patches everything is great, and then it all falls apart again. There is no doubt that you are all trying and I can see with some of your play that you are beginning to think and look for the easy play. We will put this game behind us, learn as always from it and get ready for next week. A win is good so as always enjoy it. You must continue to work on ball control and looking for other red shirts. Passing and ball control as always need constant work throughout your soccer life. As individuals you are all moulding onto a team, slowly, keep moving forward guys and keep working for each other. Good win.
U14/2 v Pendle Hill Win 4-2
Well done to our goal scorers the three C's again Connor, Corey and Cameron, with at half time we were leading 3 - 0.
After a half time pep talk the boys were back for more with Corey scoring again, Pendle Hill scored 2 goals in the second half, a very hard fought game as Pendle Hill like to push and shove but our players kept their heads.
Everyone, a good job today, with plenty of running and backing up each other. good game boys.
Let’s do it again next week.

The Girls in action
|
AAL/5 v Toongabbie Draw 1-1
As a first time spectator to the woman’s comp I was impressed with the skill level and enthusiasm.
Good communication between players and passing skills saw the team mounting well structured attacks on the opposition goals but poor finishing meant Ermo dominated the game but were unlucky not to have scored many more points. Beth from the halfway mark started a move and a 1-2 combo with Brie and good ball control passed several defenders and finished with a tight angled goal for the lead.
Against the run of play, a lapse in concentration towards the end and a missing off side flag gave them the equalizer.
All round an entertaining game. Well done ladies and good luck.
O35/3 v Winston Hills
Loss 1-3
Where do I start about
today’s game for about 20 minutes it was a tight game and I thought we
might run over the top of them, but at 21 minutes everything changed
when they scored. Peter who was at that time having a great game went
off injured (sore toe nail) with everyone lifting and Luigi able to
score 1 -1 at half time. Richard who during the first half had 20 what
he called shots also went down in the 2nd half with injury (another sore
toe nail). By this stage we were running on half a knee. Cameron
thought he would try and motivate us by swearing and telling everyone
how good they were going. Luigi then went off with a busted arm, put
some water on it and came back on to soldier on (how good is that
water).
Truth - I hope Peter and Richard’s leg injuries are not bad
and both make a full and speedy recovery, both guys where having great
games before they were injured.

Slick Defence
|
O35/6 v Holroyd Rangers Win 2-1
This was a satisfying win because we had come so close the last time and their tough side. Although they had good foot control we closely marked their strikers and we dominated most of the match. Against the run of play a penalty in the box gave them the 1st half lead. Stevie H inspired by the World Cup kicked from distance and with the wind factor dropped the ball into the goal. That really fired the team on and shortly after a good scrimmage in front of goals and Lances bigger chest gave us the winner. Christo was great in goals and a big thanks to Ian G for refereeing. Again communication was the backbone of our win. Still a tight comp so we can’t slack off.
