Wayne fine tuning his skills for the School Long Jump
|
The school holidays are now upon us, and weather permitting we will not be playing on that middle weekend (10 -11/7/ 10).
There will be soccer on this weekend, and then you can enjoy a week off and return for the games on 17/18 July.
Take advantage of the break, I know my family will be !!!!!!!!!!
You will find that there is a new date for the "Barefoot Bowls ". It is Sunday 1st August - Ian has included all the details ,so jot that date in your diary, and let's see if we can make it a real family day for the club !!!!!!!!
Enjoy your soccer this weekend - no soccer or DRIBBLE for the following week .
Cheers
Wayne.

U7A v PARRAMATTA CITY 3-1 LOSS
Another great close game was enjoyed by the parents this week. The very cold and wet pitch did not stop our team from playing a good game today. The opposition started off very well and took a half time lead of 2-0. The second half was a different story as our team lifted and the score was 1-1 in the second half. A great game in defence by all the girls Olivia, Zoe & Alana while the attack was kept going by Jarod, Lachlan, James and Connor. A fantastic goal and game by Connor saw him take home the player of the match. Well done to all.
U9/5 v Pendle Hill Win 4-0
To the surprise of many parents, the wet weather of previous days didn’t prevent a muddy tussle at Toongabbie with a 4-0 result in Ermington’s favour. Pendle Hill spent the match gamely defending their goals; our boys showed good cooperation in attack with only the finishing needing a little work. When the goals came they were evenly spread around. Jon: 2, Geordie: 1 and Jack: 1.
Mack and Fraser had plenty of work on the sidelines where the opposition were at their most effective, closing the play down and giving the boys plenty of practice at throw-ins, which this week showed a big improvement. Isaac counterattacked well down the flanks and carried off the X-factor award.
Cohen won Man of the Match in a photo finish with Eli for his big hearted and unselfish display in the centres.
U10/5 v Castle Hill United Loss 5-1
What can you do with only 9 players against the top team? Before I continue I would like to impress on the parents to confirm if the game is actually cancelled and not presume it is. This act really lets the players down that showed up and doesn’t show much team commitment.
Continuing, you can try, try, try, which is what this team is beginning to be known for. They still managed a goal against superior numbers. Jarrod Baker was outstanding in goals today, growing with confidence and skill with each game. Jarrod individually stopped the score line going into the high double figures. Well done to all the TEAM players.
U12/5 v Castle Hill RSL Draw 2-2
Today’s game was a hard game and a good game against a team who should be high on the ladder. Today the 12/5's showed character and spirit to hold against a strong finishing Castle Hill. The game was theirs to be won and lost we had our chances and so did they. What let us down again was our ball control and our willingness to look for a team mate and until we really learn that we need to do these things we will struggle. As I say each week in patches of the game it works when you work and things happen. This is the part of the season where no game is easy and every point is earned, today you all earned your point, we must continue to be smart, head up and look to kick the ball to someone in red, get out of the habit of just kicking the ball anywhere. Good to see that the defence was jockeying the attack. Another good team effort we must improve a little each week. Well done.
U14/2 v Auburn FC drew 2-2

U14's pushing forward
|
A tough physical match which saw two Auburn players shown the yellow card. The boys showed great composure to get on with the game and Conor scored a good goal to put us ahead 1-0. After the second yellow card, Conor scored off the penalty shot giving us a 2-0 lead. Max made some great saves to keep them scoreless in the first half. In the second half, our intensity drifted and suddenly Auburn scored a goal. An unfortunate penalty late in the game saw Auburn score off the penalty shot in the box. This team plays a rough physical game and we are going to have to match them if we meet them in finals games.
AAL/5 v Winston Hills White Win 2-0
In front of a home ground the players gave the spectators plenty to cheer about. Another fine display of lead up work to give the forwards plenty of opportunities. The backs marked their players well and goalie Susan charged down the only real threat. A clash between a forward and midfield with a goal beckoning summed up the lack of communication for the finishing touches. Overall a good game played in the spirit of the “Beautiful Game”
O35/3 v Greystanes Win 3-0
Remember this name Socceroo George penalty saver and goalkeeper master; this was an outstanding display of goal keeping that was full of confidence whilst our normal keeper was away getting a haircut. With so many injured players we started with a bare 11 against Greystanes bare 9 through hard work we lead 1 nil at half time, with our normal 1/2 time pep talk under our belts we where full of zeal and willingness to do the hard yards. With Peter sitting on the sidelines with his broken foot (good to see you), Ken with his busted knee and Joe. The tension in the air was high as to what would unfold in the 2nd half.
Luigi had 10 shots and got 2 there was a ring in on the field in the second half ( our normal keeper) who had gone to Ashley & Martin yeh yeh, well he tried to be the striker without much luck. A win is a win, a good hard game.
P/S Sorry to say Peter Shepherd did break his foot in last week’s game; I hope that everything works out well for you.
Good to see you at the game today.
O35/6 v North Rocks Win 4-0
That's going to hurt!!
|
Firstly a big thanks to Ian Garrett for refereeing another of our games in a fair, unbiased and casual manner. You are a bit of a good luck charm! It has been a slow progress to get to this stage where we capitalise on a team short on players, scoring early but still keeping the pressure on throughout the game. Dave hit the crossbar with a speculator shot from halfway that was finished by good support play but no kudos for you. We kept the communication up and everyone did their job. It was a fun game and North Rocks are a pleasure to play against being a fair but hard team without the bulldust
