|
Hi Everyone
With the rain tumbling down at the momentour weekend round is looking in jepardy at the moment. Make sure that you check the Council Wet Weather line (92948586) tomorrow afternoon to see if the grounds are open, which I would think is unlikely at the moment. We will add a message to our facebook page as soon as we know the council decision. For the weekend we will endeavour to let people know as early as possible but this is sometimes Saturday morning. If the call is made that late, all the managers will be contacted and then pass the info on to their teams. Cross you fingers that the weather improves by the weekend!!
Remember your raffle tickets. We have soem great prizes up for grabs as you can see below.
Good Luck to eeryone one th weekend

U6C v Rydalmere
Another fantastic effort from the little tikes. This week we canme up against a team of similar ability to us. No superstars slide tackling us in the line this week. As usual Levi was ful of running making several breaks and chasing them down in defence. Lucas had is target aim firmly at the opposition goals this week. Our super girls, Ava, Claire & Georgia were in the thick of it all game toughing it out in the middle of the huddle. Luke had his kicking boots on and was keen to take every kick in we had. We done kids keep having fun. As Georgie said when ask if they won "We won because we had fun!!"
U10-5 v North Rocks Loss 1 - 5
The team was a bit slow to start but overall everyone ran as hard as they could and when we learn to pass more and let the ball work harder we will be awesome. We missed Jacob at sweeper today, although Elie tried his hardest against a well drilled opposition he couldn't stop the constant line breaks that they created.
Fraser and Jack were recognised for their great effort helping to defend or mount a counter-attack. Jarod was unanimously voted the Player of the Match for stopping so many goal attempts we would have had a double digit deficit. His reading of the game and de-fusing an attack is the best I have seen anyone at this age.
Well done Jarod!
Ermington 12/4 played St Michaels Baulkham Hills in a 1-0 loss on Saturday. We were 0-0 at half time and had some great chances, but despite some excellent defense from our backline of Jeff, Bree, Nakita and Nicholas, a goal snuck in late in the second half. Our midfield of Lachlan, Joey and Jesse were solid and creating some good chances. Troy, Saba and Jordan showed fantastic determination and Daniel looked dangerous when he got the ball. Jesse was our player of the match for his excellent work in midfield. We are playing well as a team, but still have a little work to do in front of the goal - but we get a little better every week. Well done everyone.
13/4 Ermo vs Castle Hill R.S.L Draw 1-1
Todays game had everything from possibly the best set up and goal of the year, to a miss kick that leads to the opposition scoring, with our defence the best its ever been one slip up is all takes. So far this year we have had some very close games and this game was no exception. With both our outside backs using there heads (it good to see) many of Castle Hills raids where shut down on the half way; hope you guys relize what a bonus for the team that is. We let Castle Hill own the game, with our passing and ownership of the ball not to our usual standard we could not get into the game, but having said that we managed to hang on for the draw. With a missed penalty at a crucial part of the game, its good to be disappointed but it was good to see your reaction to it, you all got on with the game. It was an exciting game on the sidelines but it was also ugly, but this team once again worked hard all the way.
Heads up everyone, come to training, work hard and the results will take care of themselves. Well done again. Goal Harry
35/5 V's Greystanes Draw 0 - 0
What a great result today for the newbies of Ermington 35's, Greystanes turned up today expecting to put a 100 on us.
The great defence shown today was outstanding with everyone playing out of their skins. The midfield was owned by big Bill and Michael, with great support from Lorenzo, Peter and Jamal. With Floyd surrounded by six players and still calling for the ball, the forwards where probing all game, some early shots, some missed chances, but that was the game. With Frank marking his return next week spots in this team are going to be hard earned. Todays game was a hard fought game and nobody did anything silly or worthy of ridicule, expect our mate Floyd made a call from a free kick that Richie was taking that Beckham would been proud if he could kick that far, keep up the good work Floyd. Lets make George Kendal the boneyard of visiting teams dreams, like we did today. When the opposition walks off without shaking heads they have had a dream shattered. We can build on this great effort today. MOM Lorenzo. P.S. George did not score today (again).
35-6 v Winston Hill Draw 1-1
The team game out firing from the start and really gave it a go testing the opponent's goalie. Although we seemed to have the momentum, suddenly against the run of play the opposition sneaked a freaky goal.
The team just picked up the intensity tackling hard, chasing everything and peppering their goals.
The cool and calmness of this new look team showed as they went about their business marking their players and creating goal opportunities. The confidence in the teams abilities were rewarded with a late goal from Lance. Although it was another draw we were unlucky not to have turned it around…
The two match reports below are from last week. I must appologise to Enzo for not adding them last week. He spends alot of time putting his reports and photos together each week for which I am very greatful!!
AAL/4 v Winston Hills Loss 1-2
A few key injuries meant players were not in their normal positions plus the team borrowed 2 girls from their sister side, thanks Emma and Irene. With the other team
constantly attacking it took the team a while to settle.
Credit to the stand-in goalie who looked confident and did a great job under pressure. Although the team looked a bit outclassed they rallied well and defended even better. Showing their better fitness as the opposition tired gaps opened and the forwards finally managed a few raids on the goals scoring a deserved point. This teams stamina
has improved markedly along with the skills and should see them in the top rankings later in the rounds injuries aside.
AAL/5 v Castle Hill RSL Loss 0-5
Forget the first half where soft goals were allowed because we were out of position, not marking and players chasing the same ball.
NO GOALS scored against us in the second half and some well constructed moves that gave us a few attempts at their goal. A huge improvement with players marking tightly. Renai helped control the middle by stopping the ball and looking for players to pass onto. KittyKat came straight out of the fridge playing in goals with confidence that filtered through the team. Kylie and Naomi seemed quiet but the relentless close marking of their opponents was vital for our team. We are definitely making improvements as a team but also individual players are stepping up and really shining. The fitness of the team does worry the opponents but we need to keep practising ball control and keeping our hands down.

Once again we find ourselves at the start of a new season of soccer at Ermington United.
As you can appreciate clubs are run on the support of its members and volunteers whether a player, supportive parent, team coaches, team managers, committee members and we thank you all very much for that support.
Another way that we could help support our club is by way of sponsorship. our Ermington United Sponsorship Opportunities 2011 brochure is attached below for you to present to your employer or your own business, in the hope they may be looking to advertise that business locally.
Thanks again for your continued support of the Ermington United Club in the past and in the future and I hope you all have a great soccer season in 2011.
