10/5 v Greystanes Loss 5 - 0
Although the score did not end up in our favour the team did a great job to not let the total against them blow out. We started with only 7 player and had 2 join the play just after the kick off. The backs defended well against the odds and Jarod was a wall in goals stopping far more then he let in. The Mids\forwards were full of running and created several chances of their own. Just on the start of second half our tenth player took the field and added some more depth to the team. There were a lot more scoring chances in the second half but Greystanes continued the pressure with their fresher players to slot in a couple more goals. Well done team although you did not win you put in a mighty effort.
13/4 v Wenty Waratah (White) Win 2-0
Another slow start from the first half, has been put down by the exhaustive warm up that left them with nothing in the tank at kick off. Thanks for warming them up Enzo. Wenty came at us with plenty of foot speed and a quality passing game, but as we tend to do we scrambled and kept them out.
We can see that you guys are thinking about what you are doing, the pace of your movements needs to go up a notch, plus the need to anticipate and read the play, to many times we are standing still and reacting to what the other side provides, we want them to react to us. After a half time chat from the coach the team come out on fire and it wasn't long before our first goal was slotted away, that seemed to allow us to breathe and play our more settled game. It was still a hard slog against a team that struggles to field a team each week, but it is you guys who continue to provide the parents on the sidelines a pleasing and fair game of soccer each Saturday. Keep up the good work.
Both goals to Ben.
35/5's v St Johns Loss 4-2
From the Penthouse to the basement in one week , in a game that we where always a shot of winning.
With the opposition the more skillful team we where always scrambling in defence and it was only a matter of time before they scored. From two nil down we came back to equal at 2 all before they ran away with the game in the dying stages we never gave up and showed that we all feel the disappointment of a loss such as this, and that we are playing for each other as a team. Frank made his long awaited return from knee injury and made a solid start after the shirt ceremony made before the game. With this weekends game against Parra City the main game of the year, a win against this mob would be outstanding.
Today we showed we will not surrender, we just have to get some goals. See you all next week.
