PRESIDENTS REPORT
Thank you to all the players and parents who supported the Cadbury Chocolate Drive this year. Well done! There are still some outstanding boxes that need to be returned with payment so that our club treasurer can pay ASAP. All team managers should receive an email this week.
Please note that NO PLAYER is allowed to play with earrings, nose rings etc. This is not a new rule. It has been around forever. It also comes from Netball Australia and not from NGCNA. You simply cannot wear tape to cover - so please consider piercing in the off season, if possible.
Good luck to our teams attending the Southport Carrara Carnival next weekend. Remember your club sportsmanship. We all look forward to reading about your day in the next newsletter.
Please check the Important Dates in this newsletter as we have had to make some minor changes (especially regarding Presentation Night – refer below).
Congratulations to the Intermediate Tiger parents who took out the 1st prize at this year’s Trivia Night on the 24th. I hope you all enjoyed the night.
See you on the courts.
Kate Andrews
PRESIDENT
UMPIRE’S CORNER
I would like to thank all of our umpires for doing such a fantastic job this season so far! Your PPNC umpires are:-
Brittany Wilkie, Hannah Stagoll, Hayley Stagoll, Laura Braidotti, Carly Thomas, Laura Southall, Lauren Crawford, Riana Timoti & Margaret Palmer. Congratulations on your GREAT WORK!!
I would also like to thank Brittany Wilkie and Laura Braidotti for offering to umpire at the Southport Carrara Carnival on 8th August 2010, for Pumas, Lions and Panthers, who are competing. It should be a great day!
Karina Braidotti
UMPIRE CO-ORDINATOR
A MESSAGE FROM OUR ASSOCIATION
The Twilight competition will be held on Monday nights.
This will commence on 4th October, running for 10 weeks and finishing on Monday 6th December. Games will be at 5.30pm, 6.30pm and 7.30pm timeslots, however, this will depend on numbers. A draw will be forwarded to each club the week before the comp starts. The 10 year olds will play at 5.30pm each week.
Due to the lights only being on the hard courts, we cannot use the grass courts. However, as the 9 year olds play on the hard courts next season, then if we get 6 teams nominated for this age group we will run a U9 comp also - to prepare them for next season.
It will be a first past the post wins with no finals. If there is a tie, the winner will be awarded by a goal count back. There will be trophies for the winning team and medallions for the runners up.
Cost to enter is $50.00 per player to the association. Every club must submit the name of their umpires to Terina and she will put them on the umpires roster. All players who are not registered with Netball Queensland must pay $54.00 to cover the insurance. Proof of insurance paid will be required and a $20.00 affiliation fee, if you are affiliated with another association.
All team nominations must be received by 20th of September. Please remember the regular season has Grand Finals on 4th of September, so you will have to get your forms to Wendy before this date, in person, or you can email them in before 20th September. No late entries will be accepted.
We will run an opens comp for the mums if we get 6 teams nominated. Anything less than that doesn’t make a very good comp.
MATCH REPORT U9 PUMAS – VANESSA BREMER
Pumas have only lost 2 games all season. What a great season this little team has had.
MATCH REPORT U10 LIONS – MICHAELA PETERSON
Lions have not lost a game all season – including all carnival games played. Well done!
MATCH REPORT U11 PANTHERS – LISA DOCHERTY
Welcome back Paris from New Zealand and Tiana from her (still) broken toe and (now) sprained thumb. It will be great to have our full team back on court for our last few matches. We probably aren’t placed anywhere near the top of the ladder but our matches have been close and the team has enjoyed their season-to-date. Panthers are looking forward to the carnival on 8th August.
