Seniors Match Report
|
This round saw the Mighty Trobers put their undefeated streak on the line against the Manningham Cobras. It also saw a few Trobers make their first senior appearance this season: Jack “Stowy” Stow, Darcy “Darce” Edwards and Matty “Ming’s Better Half” Vella.
The first quarter saw Latrobe heading to the pavilion end with an absolute gale at their back. The boys peppered the goal face but the tricky breeze made slotting goals very hard. The Trobers kept the Cobras scoreless and kicked 4.6 themselves to go into the first break with a 30pt lead.

The second quarter had Latrobe trying to move the ball into the breeze. Van Ooi was Latrobe’s sole goal scorer, but due to great pressure from the back six, lead by Skelts and Dil, Manningham were given no easy shots and finished with an inaccurate 2.5. Latrobe went into the sheds with a 22pt halftime lead.
After a halftime rev up from Disco and Ludes, the Latrobe boys came out ready to show the Cobras how to use the howling gale. Latrobe kicked 7.6, with 6 boys sharing the goals. Once again the back six kept Manningham scoreless, but to be satisfied with that a Poncho, Knighta and Dil snuck forward and kicked goals themselves. Latrobe led by 70pts at three quarter time.

The final quarter saw Latrobe once again trying to move the ball up into the breeze, good run and carry provided by Twiggy, Skelts and Poncho helped rebound many a Manningham attack. Storto continued his four quarter effort in the ruck; to be amongst Latrobe’s best. The Trober’s run our 85 pt winners.

Most Embarrassing Moment: First footy sheds would certainly be up there. After stumbling into emma’s room, only to be dared to skull my long neck. It didn’t take long to realize the drink was going to get the better of me, and emma’s floor was forced to bear the consequences. I was then put to bed a little after nine and spent the evening with my bin. And to everyone’s amusement I discovered the entire thing had been filmed.
