Seniors Match Report
|
Round 7 saw Latrobe ventruing away from the Main Oval, to take on Richmond Centrals at Kevin Bartlett reserve. This would also mark Lude's 2nd game in charge due to Disco's absence. Word on the street suggested this would be one of Latrobes big tests from the first half of the season. Round 7 saw another debutante in the Senior ranks with Josh Lee making his first appearance in the seniors, this round also saw the return of the old stager Thwaite, after his fortnight in the reserves.
Richmond showed thier intentions right from the first bounce with a couple of loose blokes starting in our forward line, which turned the first quarter into a bit of an arm wrestle with very few oppurtunities up forward. Someone forgot to tell Gezza kicking goals was ment to be hard, kicking Latrobes only two goals for the quarter. Richmond managed one goal which saw Latrobe enter the break with a 8 pt advantage.
The second quarter saw a pumped up Richmond side really take it up to the Trobers, the game continued to be a close contest with each team struggling to kick away from the other. Vaggy gave the on-ballers good service through the middle and around the stoppages. The sides traded 3 goals each to see Latrobe boys enter half time with a 6 pt lead.
The third quarter saw the arm wrestle continue with both sides struggling to really kick away from the other, the boys in defence, led by Boomer and Poncho, continued to put the brakes on the Richmond forwards and help Latrobe maintain their advantage, and enter the three quarter time huddle with an 11pt advantage.
The fourth quarter came around and saw the cream rise to the top, with the boys from the Main Oval kicking away. The boys up forward shared the pill around, with Ludes kicking a couple to take his total for the game to 3. Van Ooi continued to have a positive influence on the game and finished out a solid four quarter performance. The Trobers kicked 5 goals to one to finish 36 pt winners. Another great performance by Gezza playing up forward and through the midfield saw him get the votes for the second week in a row.
