Grand Final Reports
13/1 v Baulkham Hills Win 2-1
Well, boys, you finally did it! This was the third year in a row that this team had reached the Grand Final, and at last they had the confidence to finish it off and take out the trophy. From the moment they kicked off, Castle Hill were well on top of Baulkham Hills.
They played probably their best 15 minutes of this season—everyone was passing superbly and keeping their positions well and we had so many scoring opportunities that it was certainly a relief when Yu scored a goal from a cross by Alexander to put us ahead 1-0. Unfortunately towards the end of the first half, they seemed to droop a little in the heat; Jared had to make a couple of superb saves, and then a tackle in front of the goal resulted in a penalty for Baulkham Hills which they converted to go into half time at 1-1. A pep-talk from the Coach obviously strengthened the team’s resolve again and when Jeremy scored the second goal for Castle Hill there was jubilation all around. With 15 minutes to go the boys worked hard in defence while continually pressuring the Baulkham Hills goal. The parents were on the edge of their seats (very luxurious compared with standing around on the sidelines at our other matches!), willing the boys to hold on to their lead…and to everyone’s joy the final whistle came just as Baulkham Hills were beginning to mount a counter-attack. Champions at last!
Congratulations to all the boys: Jeremy, Jared, Alexander, Josh, Jacob, Yu, Kyal, Brendan, Fenton, Tom, Arshdeep, Dylan
and DJ. You did yourselves, your Coach and your parents proud. Thank you to Coach Stuart and Manager Steve for all
your hard work this season.
