Respect the rights of your fellow man. It is a privilege not shared by all.

Monday 10 December is ‘International Human Rights Day’. This day has been set aside by the United Nations to celebrate, educate and reflect on the rights we all exercise everyday as Australians.
Things that many of us take for granted such as the right to an education, the right to receive medical care, the freedom to practice our chosen religion are not equally available to all particularly in other parts of the world. Consequently, many individuals and communities will be commemorating and celebrating on Monday, and pledging a commitment to maintain and improve people’s human rights wherever possible.
It is interesting to note, that the United Nations has declared this day of importance and Rotary was one of the Organisations who helped create the United Nations.
Rotary values and what the organisation stands for are all second nature to us as Rotarians. Our mantra of trying to bring balance, harmony and peace to the world can only be achieved with a collective spirit, putting egos in pockets and the strong drive to make a difference in the world where there are so many imbalances.
We strive to share and to enthuse our members to greater heights to help those in need and the idea of a human rights day is just fitting for the tone we want to set for the period ahead.
Our members and Rotarians have the spirit of sharing and lending a hand and it is organisations like Bill Crews Exodus Foundation and Goodcompany who are out there trying to improve the quality of life of those less fortunate.
Jane Schultz the well know journalist with The Australian will join us this week and share some of here experiences and at the same time explain the back ground to the organisation in which she has involvement.
See you Tuesday.

Hello Rex
I am writing to thank you very much for everything that you provided last Wednesday evening at our Talent Quest evening.
It was a great night and we ended up raising over $2000 dollars for UNICEF.
Thank you for the BBQ that you and your merry crew provided and staffed, the very generous gift vouchers for prizes and the fantasic bags for the children.
This was all very much appreciated by the staff and students of Darlington and could you please pass on our deepest gratitude to Garry and the rest of the volunteers.
Kind regards and Merry Christmas,
Michelle McCormack, Assistant Principal Darlington Public School |
