This demonstrates our commitment and leadership to the community both in Australia and internationally. This is why Rotary has such a fine reputation and has shown great leadership in so many areas for so many years. Last week we had an outstanding speaker in Major General Duncan Lewis who is a true leader in his field. Together with our friends from Sydney Legacy it made for a great day. This Tuesday will be no different.
‘Initiative creates position’ and we are all or have been leaders in our own way and demonstrated our ability and capability to achieve successful outcomes in our roles both in business social and community activities.
In 2007 we have just as many challenges and activities on our plate and we are forced due to work pressures to minimize our time in the Rotary space. This to me is somewhat of a conundrum, as business and community opinion is moving very much towards business putting more back into the community whether it be in dollars invested or time spent.
To not have the time to do what we enjoy and what the community expects is something we need to address.
How do we balance these elements and deliver the right balance? It takes and makes good leadership to do this and of course good planning. I believe that is why we have such a strong organisation and terrific members who are so supportive of our cause.
At our Tuesday meeting we have a number of items on our agenda that reflect and are good examples of leadership that show the membership why we are true leaders and can achieve the goals we have set ourselves.
Firstly we have Joerg Hofmann who is a true leader in his field of the Auto industry and the vision and drive he is demonstrating in his business is outstanding. He has been a supporter of our club and we are very much looking forward to his address.
This week I wrote to all members advising of our progress and the need to support the club both from a financial point of view but also from a time perspective. It included a request to help in selling all our Art Union Tickets. This project will ensure the sustainable future of our club and allow the projects we are all working so hard to achieve.
We want everyone to sell a book (20 tickets); not a big ask! Please take the time and help as it will allow the tickets to be sold promptly and ensure the task is evenly spread throughout the club members.
I am also personally touched by the generosity of one of our members (who wishes to remain anonymous) donated a significant amount to the Presidents Project.
Thank you all for your terrific support, the club and our recipients could not survive without your efforts. See you Tuesday.

President
