Joerg Hofmann
CEO Audi Australia
discussing the subject of
Innovation in the Automobile Industry
|
|
About Audi
Audi has a proud history in the world automotive industry. Audi vehicles began arriving in Australia in the 1960s but in earlier years, there was an assortment of DKW, Horch and Wanderer cars representing Audi's pioneering heritage.
Audi now boasts one of the youngest product line-ups of any European prestige vehicle and is one of the fastest-growing brands in Australia this year.
As recently as 1997, Audi was in fifth position behind virtually every other premium manufacturer in Australia. Today however, the Audi brand has carved its niche in the No. 3 position behind BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Audi Australia's managing director, Mr Joerg Hofmann, says the company is looking forward to the introduction of exciting new product in Australia, as well as the constant renewal of existing models.
"Audi has a clear goal to cement its reputation in Australia as a manufacturer of premium-quality vehicles with a sporty character. Part of this aim is to achieve strong growth in the Australian market thanks to the strength of our product offering," Hofmann said.
This year Audi will launch a diverse range of new vehicles from the compact A3 Sportback, contemporary new A4 sedan and Avant, sporty TT Coupe with dual-clutch gearbox (S tronic), stylish and versatile A6 Avant, range-topping A8 6.0 quattro..

In Rotary, Leadership is everywhere
We as Rotarians continue to ask not what Rotary can do for us but what it can do for our community.
This demonstrates our commitment and leadership to the community both in Australia and internationally. This is why Rotary has such a fine reputation and has shown great leadership in so many areas for so many years. Last week we had an outstanding speaker in Major General Duncan Lewis who is a true leader in his field. Together with our friends from Sydney Legacy it made for a great day. This Tuesday will be no different.
‘Initiative creates position’ and we are all or have been leaders in our own way and demonstrated our ability and capability to achieve successful outcomes in our roles both in business social and community activities.
In 2007 we have just as many challenges and activities on our plate and we are forced due to work pressures to minimize our time in the Rotary space. This to me is somewhat of a conundrum, as business and community opinion is moving very much towards business putting more back into the community whether it be in dollars invested or time spent.
To not have the time to do what we enjoy and what the community expects is something we need to address.
How do we balance these elements and deliver the right balance? It takes and makes good leadership to do this and of course good planning. I believe that is why we have such a strong organisation and terrific members who are so supportive of our cause.
At our Tuesday meeting we have a number of items on our agenda that reflect and are good examples of leadership that show the membership why we are true leaders and can achieve the goals we have set ourselves.
Firstly we have Joerg Hofmann who is a true leader in his field of the Auto industry and the vision and drive he is demonstrating in his business is outstanding. He has been a supporter of our club and we are very much looking forward to his address.
This week I wrote to all members advising of our progress and the need to support the club both from a financial point of view but also from a time perspective. It included a request to help in selling all our Art Union Tickets. This project will ensure the sustainable future of our club and allow the projects we are all working so hard to achieve.
We want everyone to sell a book (20 tickets); not a big ask! Please take the time and help as it will allow the tickets to be sold promptly and ensure the task is evenly spread throughout the club members.
I am also personally touched by the generosity of one of our members (who wishes to remain anonymous) donated a significant amount to the Presidents Project.
Thank you all for your terrific support, the club and our recipients could not survive without your efforts. See you Tuesday.

| Welcome to our new member |
.jpg) Our new member Robert Roche was inducted on 13 November 2007 with the classification of Information Technology –Outsourcing. He was sponsored by Craig Douglas.
Born in the United Kingdom, I migrated to Australia with my family at the age of 12 in 1981. I attended Oakhill College in Castle Hill until 1985.
I started my career in Information Technology in 1986 and held numerous technical and management positions prior to co-founding SynergyIT Pty. Limited in 1995.
I left this SynergyIT in 2001 and then co-founded of Ensyst Pty. Limited; a successful IT Consulting and Outsourcing company. My business partner and I started the Ensyst in August 2001 and today it employs 27-staff in varying roles.
In 2006 we took the opportunity to re-acquire SynergyIT and merged it with the Ensyst business.
The company has made it into BRW’s list of the top 100 fastest growing businesses for three consecutive years. Most of our business is generated through referrals based on the good reputation, relationships and trust we have built during our careers. We now plan to acquire similar businesses in an effort to sustain the growth achieved over the last 6-years. My skills are in the areas of Project and Business Management as well as Business Development.
I devote some of my spare time to helping the homeless and less fortunate by volunteering at a soup kitchen run by St Canice’s church in Darlinghurst. I have enjoyed being a volunteer at St. Canice’s for over 11-years.
I also support numerous charities including; the Starlight Children’s Foundation, the Children’s Cancer Institute, World Vision, the Fred Hollows Foundation, the Red Shield Appeal and Saint Vincent’s Hospital.
I have a passion for motorcycles and have been riding for 22-years, during this time I have attended several “Stay Upright” courses and a race school. I have attended numerous track days and previously raced classic motorcycles with my father, who is also an enthusiast.
