KOTO stands for Know One Teach One which is all about helping young people in their plight to contribute and live a life where they can contribute meaningfully to the community, build their self esteem and self worth and then help pass these leanings on to others.
We, in Rotary have a similar approach and whilst we use our vocation and undertake fellowship we need to understand ourselves and in turn others to be able to work together to achieve incredible outcomes.
As the song from ABBA goes, ‘Knowing me knowing you’, Rotary is all about sharing and solving problems for those in need.
We do it so well and we can do it even better if we take time to know who we are our fellow Rotarians and understand who we are helping.
This week we will have a ‘no name badge day’ and we will have a grand opportunity to get to know each other a lot better!!
On another matter I will be travelling to Albury to represent our Club at the Rotary club of Albury 80th Anniversary dinner. This is a wonderful achievement and I am honoured that we can share in this event. As you probably are aware we were the sponsor and assisted in starting this club, so it will be a memorable night.
If anyone was interested in also attending they would be most welcome. Details are available through Dianne
We are still focused on our goals for the year. They include building the revenue and funding for all our projects and allowing the club to then operate efficiently and effectively. This requires us to achieve our revenue targets which are not being met at present. The CALENDARS are not moving as we would wish.
As a suggestion I would ask all members to purchase a quantity for gifts or have their companies purchase and have their logos placed on the calendars and use them as a promotional item.
We have produced 2000 and that allows for every member to sell 15 units. This is not a big ask!!
The other item of revenue generation is the Art Union Tickets. We are awaiting finalisation from the Department of Gaming. Once this is agreed we will be out selling tickets. They will be $100 each and I am asking every member to assist in selling 20 tickets. Any ideas you have to promote sell and generate funds for the club we would be greatly appreciated and we would like to hear from you. The Grants and Sponsorship committee is working very hard on these projects and you will hear from them in the coming weeks.
Look forward to seeing you Tuesday.
