The Best Teachers Matter in Education.
Today is an important day in the calendar of our club, The Caltex teacher’s awards which bring together the culmination of a lot of hard work by many Rotarians but also it is a true acknowledgement of outstanding teachers in our community who give of themselves in their work, are passionate and are true masters of their profession.
We need good teachers in our community to educate and develop our children so that we can have a sustainable and educated society in which to live. Good education leads to prosperity.
If we do not encourage those in our community to teach with innovation we will not be able to educate and build a strong and compassionate society that is focused on minimising or eliminating poverty in the global community.
Caltex has been an outstanding supporter of this program. The Global brands of Caltex and Rotary combine together at The Rotary Club of Sydney to deliver a very powerful community program.
We are grateful and honoured that Caltex deem this program so important and we look forward to this continuing for the years to come.
The challenge for all of us today is the demands we place on society. These demands become a luxury. Why?
We hear government and institutions say that funds are limited to invest in educating young people; we hear employers say they cannot find enough people to fill roles, to take up a skill including teaching; we have organisations saying that natural resources such as oil and water are running out!
Service organisations such as Rotary are finding difficult to gain resources and members to help deliver on projects, yet we are able to influence positive outcomes in many countries on many issues.
Teachers help us understand how we all can balance the resources of life so that we can all enjoy a sustainable lifestyle and ensure our community is able to manage the future with success.
Rotary is involved globally to ensure we can influence the outcomes for a sustainable future.
We have been taught by our teachers and through experience that we have to make the best use of the limited resources we have available
Education is not limited, if we are taught well.
In the end Education Matters.
Albury Club Turns 80
On Saturday night I represented the club in Albury at the Rotary Club of Albury’s 80th Birthday. Our Club was the sponsor of this club that many years ago and it was an important milestone in the history of Rotary in Australia and also for our club. I presented President Denis Hunter with a copy of our clubs history to mark the occasion. It was a terrific evening and a good night was had by all.
Look forward to seeing you Tuesday.
