Peace and Harmony are part of the Spirit and Pride of being a Rotarian
The theme this week reflects the desire in most of us to always look for peace and harmony in everything we do.
It just happens that Rotary has these elements as part of its mantra and we are always looking to try and find ways to avoid conflict and create peace and harmony in our lives. It is a dream that often is never reality.
We still need to aspire to achieve this dream and our goal as Rotarians to have a better world in which to live for everyone.
This week John Weiss, Chairman of Peres Centre for Peace (Australian Chapter) is going to talk to us and I’m sure we will hear a fabulous message about peace and harmony that we as Rotarians will be able to relate to and share with others.
Club Initatives
As we approach the end of first quarter of the fiscal year we can reflect and say that there have been some positive developments in terms of new members the style and calibre of speakers and the involvements at a lunch time meeting has been healthy.
We had an excellent attendance at the District conference and we have shown leadership in our district and the community generally. You should all be very proud of what we have achieved this far.
I ask for your support
We are now moving into the part of the year where we all have to pitch in and I would ask for your support in terms of assisting with the sale of the fabulous calendars that we have had produced.
They make great Xmas gifts corporate gifts and sever as recognition of the history of our club and district the 80th Anniversary.
I’m asking all members to sell a minimum of 10 calendars each by Xmas. If everyone achieves that result we will hit our target.
Stock is available NOW.
Art Union
The second request I have is that we will have an Art Union for some wonderful prizes;
|
1st prize:
Audi Motor Car;
2nd Prize:
Omega Watch valued at $11,400 from J Farren Price and
3rd Prize:
Share portfolio valued at $10,000 from Shaw Stockbroking.
Tickets are $100 each.
|
I am asking all members to sell a minimum of 20 tickets.
The tickets will be available at the beginning of October and our goal is to sell them all prior to Xmas so we can draw the prizes after everyone come back from holidays in late January.
I trust you are all enjoy your Rotary experience and with the fellowship activities we have organised before Xmas augurs well for the coming next quarter of the Rotary Year and continue to share the spirit and pride of being a Rotarian.
I am travelling for the next couple of weeks and will not be at our next 3 meetings however the club will be in capable hands with our very able Vice Presidents Ann Burleigh and Rene Benetiz.
