The Rotary Club of Sydney invites you to join us for an introduction to: |
|
S A M S
Senior Age Management Specialists
|
|
Sam was a founding member of the Rotary Club of Kings Cross, a long-standing member of Sydney Club and is now a member of Rotary eClub One.
Sam's career spans television and film production, advertising and most notably life insurance, where for many years he was one of Australia’s leading consultants. He was the floor manager on “Six O’Clock Rock” with Johnny O’keefe, the producer of “The Odd Angry Shot” with Graham Kennedy, creator of the Cancer Council “Daffodil” logo and his record personal sales of life insurance were in excess of 1 billion dollars.
Sam has formed a new business based on recruiting mature age Australians. This business, known as S A M S (Senior Age Management Specialists) solves the problem experienced by anyone over 50 (or even 45) of finding quality employment - part or full time - commensurate with their knowledge and experience.
Sam's partner, is the CEO of Abacus Recruit with over twenty years experience. Together they plan to ‘open the doors’ of business to mature age jobs in Australia.
Sam’s talk on the business of S A M S should be of interest to many of us. |

Share Your Passions

As I prepare to travel out of Australia and will be away for 2 ½ weeks I think how fortunate I am to be able to leave Sydney and have an experience with my son to see some of the Rugby world cup and at the same time enjoy the company of those who share a passion for Rugby!
The passions of life are something that engage people and bind them into a team for a cause whatever it may be.
Our members have passion for the club and for the cause and it is truly an amazing fabric that our club has to bind the passion that we all share for Rotary and for the Rotary Club of Sydney.
Since we are talking about passions I would like to acknowledge the efforts of tow Rotarians who spent an inordinate amount of time related to the District Conference, Sarah Donavan and Brett Freer who all gave of their time for this event. Many thanks and your efforts are much appreciated.
As mentioned I will be away for 3 meetings and the meetings will be chaired by the very capable Vice Presidents in that of Ann Burleigh and Rene Benetiz.
I will miss you all but I’m sure you will enjoy the coming week’s meetings as we have some terrific speakers and I know that there is much in store but will leave that to be disclosed by Ann and Rene.
Share your passions and enjoy everything that life has to offer, including the spirit and pride of being a Rotarian.

President Garry has been struck down with a dose of Rugby World Cup fever. The only known cure is to travel to France to witness on earth, the game they play in heaven.
A sort of un peu l’aire en terre.
Several other Rotarians have been similarly afflicted. We wish them all a speedy recovery and ask only that they barrack themselves hoarse to ensure the Wallabies bring home the Cup. “Go you good things. Go” sayeth Buddah and so say all of us … with the possible exception of Rod Rate and others in his League.
Recompense for those of us at home, or more exactly, at Rotary on Tuesday, comes in the form of Sam Leon. Longer term Rotarians will remember Sam well; newer Rotarians are in for a treat. Former Club Sergeant at Arms; Sam is our Guest Speaker this week. Come and lighten your day with a little of Sam’s irrepressible humour and vitality. I guarantee you’ll go back to work with a smile on your dial.
Our fabulous 2008 ‘Shipwreck’ Calendars will be on sale too. Look out for the dapper ‘Sales Team’ Rex Doughty and Peter Townsend. They want you to go back to work knowing that you’ve settled the key client – corporate gift issue already. Clever you!
Check out the ‘What’s On and When’ and get those dates into your fast filling last quarter Diaries … and get your money in to the appropriate people to secure your places. So much fun to be had by being a Rotarian, albeit a stay-at-home-for-once-one.
There’s more in store but you’ll need to be at Lunch to find out. See you there? Great!
Ann Burleigh
Vice President [Internal] 2007-2008 Events Director & General Bossy Boots. |
