2R Match Report
27 June 2009 Soccer / Football Match
Kingsford Smith
StM 1 Vs North Sydney 1
Goal Scorers: Jock K 1
To all Midfielders, Halves, Strikers, Forwards, Backs, Defenders and the Goalie/Keeper, as you can see the score was not brilliant.
| Hopefully each of you will be able to identify with at least one of the above stated positions. The last couple of training sessions have ended with some heated discussions as to the correct / proper name for the positions on the field. I believe I have covered everyone in the above list. If you know the names in another language, then keep it to yourself. |
You may realise by now I am having to fill in space with a lot irrelevant chatter. The game on the weekend was not brilliant. We had a draw. The scores were equal. Both teams ONLY scored 1 goal each. Each goalie/keeper only conceded 1 goal.
The day started well enough. I had breakfast at 9.00 am ( bacon and eggs ). The chatter at the field seemed confident enough before the game. Our keeper/goalie kept commenting on how big the field was ( who cares, he doesn't run around it). Others were talking about how they were going to SCORE to-day. ( Obviously it wasn't GOALS they were talking about !
We started as usual with 11 players / team members on the field. Right from the start we appeared to have the better of the positional play. Most of the play was in the oppositions half ( the other teams side of the field ).
At about the 10 minute mark came our "play of the day". The opposition striker/forward was dispossesed of the ball by Ian ( Scooter ) Hill. Ian then ran 2/3 of the field before releasing a 'pin point accurate ' pass across the field to our born again striker/forward Jock, who controlled the ball beautifully before releasing an immaculate shot into the back of the net.
That is 2 GOALS in 2 weeks for Jock.
Both scored with his boot.
I was asked to mention that the pass was PIN POINT ACCURATE by someone in our team; sc--ter.
Ten minutes later came our worst play of the day. We allowed the opposition striker/forward to have the only shot for their team. The ball hit the goal post and bounced into the back of our net. Score 1 - 1.
We had another good chance in the first half when we were given a penalty..Before any one could speak, before the referree could blow his whistle, before Scott could grab the ball, before any one could thank god or Bish for the penalty Ian ( scooter ) Hill had grabed the ball and placed it on the spot and was ready to shoot. There was no discussion, Ian wanted to take this penalty. The opposition then did the unthinkable, they took out their 3ft 2inch keeper/goalie and replaced him with a 6ft giant. This did not phase our scooter, you could see his mind ticking over, he was thinking about that PIN POINT ACCURATE shot again.
There was no pressure on the scooter, it WAS ONLY our chance to take the lead again. As we all know the keeper/goalie saved the shot.
The second half play was mostly ours, but we just couldn't get it in. There were a number of skirmishes in the opposition goal mouth were the opposition just managed to keep the ball out.
It has to be said that North Sydney did give us a hard game. Overall we did not play badly, we didn't have any luck.
See you all next week.
