Photo Free-for-all
The 11/5's have been most supportive in sending in photos, so this week they get a featured spot with heaps of their action. There are some rippers amongst this group. Enjoy!
SORCERER’S APPRENTICE NEEDED
We have an opening for someone to assist with Purchasing for the Club. The purchasing is done for the Canteens, and includes lollies, drinks, sausages, eggs, bread and milk. Ivan Stepic is currently doing it, and we need to have someone step in for him, after some training. We’ll stick with our current suppliers initially, however you can change to whoever is more convenient for you. You need a little time flexibility so that deliveries can be made to the club house, but it is not a huge time involvement, just a few hours a week. Please contact Ivan (0428 664 310) and arrange to meet him to see what is needed before you make up your mind.

Match Reports
Senior 7’s v Wenty Waratahs
Loss 0 – 1
Another loss, but a moral victory. Against a team of 14, our Magnificent 7 (+ 1) played like their lives depended on it.
There were moments where our vastly out-numbered players were surrounded on all sides, and yet beat the opposition to the ball. It took 20 minutes into the game for an uncharacteristically brilliant kick in the top right corner that brushed Andy’s fingertips to win the game for the WW’s .The rest of the game belonged to SMK. Andy was Schwartzer-like in his spell in goals, by the end of the game he was challenging the WWs to try and get the ball past him.
With so few players available to us this week, I can list the brilliance individually...Ryan made another wonderful appearance for us (thanks to the early morning drizzle), constantly winning the ball against all odds with his amazing balance and anticipation. His brother Kyle played beautifully in his constant ‘haranguing’ fashion (those boys can be very annoying to the opposition)...brother no.3 returns next week! Nick, Bucko, and Wayne chased down every opportunity possible...their speed displayed on the field was breathtaking. Chad should be renamed Chubb as he was as solid and reliable as a safe, every week he puts his ‘all’ into the game.
Then there was Timbo....who nearly did it for his rellies (the sideline Marmee Army was 80% Tim associated) and missed it by a ‘Maxwell Smart’ smidgeon on about 3 indirect kicks.
Tim’s chasing in defence was inspiring, racing from offensive positions to take the ball out of play on numerous occasions...show off! In fact, let’s be honest, this whole team was a pack of show offs. Nobody was really even watching the opposition or concerned that it would ultimately be a round without points for us, because this was great entertainment, with wonderful skills, sportsmanship and heart on display. As the whistle blew, the opposition players even commented on the exceptional speed demonstrated and admitted that they were worn out...with their 3 subs!
Well done boys, you were back to your best...and look what an early night can do for your football!
12/1 v Winston Hills Bears
Loss 1 -0
St Michael's were unlucky today to not come away with a win. We fought hard all game - pushing up in attack and defending hard at the back. In the first half we toiled hard for the whole half being unlucky every shot that we took at goal. At the back we won the ball almost every time and pushed the ball. Early in the second half the opposition struck with a goal. This put our confidence down but a minor flaw would not stop us. Again being unlucky in front of goal we could not come away with a goal by the end of the game which resulted in a 1-0 loss against us. Overall everyone tried hard all game and it was a bitter sweet win for the opposition.
14/3 v Rydalmere FC
Draw 1 – 1
The first half was remarkable for 2 main aspects. Firstly, the boys displayed how well they can play as a team when they pass the ball, creating many scoring opportunities and looking the best team on the park by far! Conversely, the other feature of the 1st half was that SMKs displayed about 10 different ways to NOT score a goal! How unlucky can so many pairs of soccer boots be?
This game was so frustrating to watch from your match reporter’s point of view, that in fact, from my seated position on the sideline I rarely had a view as the very involved Dad’s Brigade stalked up and down the sideline, and even unconsciously into the field in their efforts to will the ball into the nets. There were chesting demonstrations, air swings and calls for ‘think about it, ‘don’t watch the ball...watch the ball!...don’t think about it...kick the ball!... down the middle...up the side!’ Exhausting stuff! It must be even tougher on the field!
Eventually, not long before half time, Dinesh was successful. Most of us would have thought that if second half was played in a similar fashion that SMK could win. Oh well, let’s just call it the win that got away. After demonstrating some terrific skills in goals, saving several sure shots and racing out to challenge the opposition, Liam was eventually beaten when a successful save was not cleared and the opposition team toed it home. We were not able to repeat the passing game of the 1st half, failing to achieve the win that looked inevitable in that earlier contest. Still fun to watch, several areas of play to be encouraged by...but next time, get out the lucky boots...the Dad’s Brigade will be worn out!
11/5 v Toongabbie
Win 4 – 0
What a ripper of a match!!
We weren't even 10 minutes into the first half & we had scored 2 goals. We kept the attack going strong & by the end of the first half had four goals in the bag. Our goal scorers were Nathan (x2), Dominic & Thomas.
Toongabbie put in a valiant effort in the second half & managed to keep the half scoreless despite being under constant attack from our Knights.
This was just a brilliant game with everyone in our team putting in a fantastic effort. Knight of the round was well deserved by Nathan & the Encouragement award went to Jordan.
Keep up the great work guys!!!!!!
