Lane Cove One Win
Greenwich Taken to Penalties

A family affair as Lane Cove kids share in the success
of their dad's 2010/11 Championship win.

AN outstanding conclusion to another highly successful Summer Six-a-Side O35 Championship was played out on Monday evening in the beautiful grounds of the St Ignatius College, Riverview.
Congratulations, respect and admiration, plus a quite nice trophy, was afforded the Lane Cove team for their 2-1 victory over the talented Rovers.
A highly skilled and entertaining match involving all parts of the body in controlling the little white ball. The referees too were tested and found equal to the task in a physical, hard fought and good spirited match from start to finish. Well done to everyone.
Earlier in the evening the St. Michaels #1 team managed a last minute goal to avoid a penalty shootout against the revived Northbridge Tigers. Having finished last in the 1st Division, what a turn around by the Tigers, who fought all the way until the final siren sounded.

Volunteers helped raise over $500 for the Kokoda Spirit
charity. All food and drinks were kindly donated.

Some imaginative goal keeping by the Mixed Bag keeper was not enough to stay a victory by the Div 2 competition stand outs, Greenwich. Scoring first the Mixed Bag team tightened their defences but couldn't hold off the Greenwich striker #7. A large crowd of enthusiastic supporters hung on every penalty attempt while munching on a selection of gourmet Riverview produce carefully prepared and served by the volunteer army, shown right.
Over $500 was raised for the Kokoda Spirit charity.
In the remaining match the Hunters helped themselves to a big 4-1 win over the Riverview #1 team to take home the 2nd Division Pennant.
What a fantastic way to spend a Monday evening throughout summer. Thanks especially to Chris McKenzie, the referees and the support for old man football by the Saint Ignatius College.
