Saints 4 Make the Plate
Rangers 360s Rematch
Handing the talented Greenwich team their first taste of defeat in the final round of the 2010-11 Summer Six-a-Side Soccer has secured the St Michaels #4 team a second chance to challenge for the coveted Riverview Plate in div 2 of the over 35 competition.
The Greenwich loss has allowed the 360s to retain their title as the only team in the competition's lengthening history to have negotiated a season undefeated.
The taste of defeat is now more familiar to the 360s after the Rangers held them off in in the final round with a 1-nil win.
The match was a hard fought display of highly skilled ball handling and passing and despite having more shots on goal the 360s couldn't find the target. This week's match of the round is again the Rangers v 360s but this time the early money is on the 360s to get up and prematurely end an impressive season for the Rangers.
The Wooden Spoon & Bowl awards have been secured by the Northbridge Tigers and the Saint Michaels Old Boys with a difficult season and only one win between them. We look forward to seeing you again next season.
A special mention this week to our referees who have put up with us all for the whole season and, like we players, have improved as the season progressed.
