Since the establishment of the Riverview College in February of 1880, the No. 1 oval has been the scene of many great Australian sporting battles, achievements & triumphs. This Monday it will again become the stage for the inaugural St. Ignatius College Summer Soccer Series Final between the competition's two best teams, both heralding from the Northbridge club.
All players and their families are invited to attend to celebrate an excellent summer of soccer. Time to enjoy.
The two Northbridge teams have performed consistently well during the season and are deserving of their finals appearance, although the Northbridge 360s only narrowly secured their position after winning their semi final match in a penalty shoot out with the St. Michaels #1 team.
The St. Michaels #1 team's performance to secure a nil all draw at full time was an outstanding result against quality opposition.
The St. Michaels No.2 team who narrowly missed a chance to play for the prized Riverview Premiership Cup will meet the Riverview #1 team on the main oval after easily dispensing with the "highly endorsed" Riverview #3 team this week.
The Riverview #2 team were tested by the bottom team, the St. Michaels #3 team who contained them to a nil all draw, after the St. Michaels team failed to capitalise on a number of scoring opportunities. In the previous round the Riverview #2 team (who will play off for the Riverview Wooden Bowl, a curtain raiser match on Monday evening) held the Northbridge Tigers to a nil all draw, proving that the competition is very even from top to bottom. The Cammeray Cockatoos will be feeling confident of taking home the bowl.
