We have a few good reports for the first week but we would like to see a few more in the coming weeks!! Come on everyone we only need a paragraph or two which will only take you 5 mins to type out and email.
U6A v Parra City
The first game of the year was also the first game for most of the U6A's but you wouldn't have known it. Our team was competitive from the first whistle with all the kids getting in and tackling, running and kicking like this was not the first game they had played. We made a great step by scoring our first goal in the first game of the season, a big improvement from the team that Georgia and Levi played in last year, when Levi and Hamish both got a foot to the ball to score the 'joint' goal. Although we did not score another goal there were several close chances and I am sure that the goals will continue to come through out the season.
Great work little champs!!
U7B v Newington
The Ermington Under 7B’s played against Newington at Newington. The game was really well organised. The grounds were well marked out and set up. The Newington team and supporters were really nice. It made us feel better after losing 7 nil. We had 6 players who all tried hard and thoroughly enjoyed playing despite the loss. A nice day was had by all.
U8 A V Dundas A
Well first game of the season against one of our arch rivals, so many changes in the rules including having a goalkeeper ( what do you mean I can pick up the ball !)
The bigger field meant lots of running by everybody and lots of tired bodies at the end, not to mention Steven having to guide from the sideline rather than on the field. A great game was played with everybody always involved. Vincent and Zachary both showed their skills as goalie, while Jack, Isa and Cameron spent most of their time testing the skills of the Dundas goalie, with Jack finally getting past to score a goal. Emily played very well in her very first game, holding her own against all of the boys, while Morgan and Ethan demonstrated some very good defensive skills in the backs. It ended in a draw but lots of encouraging signs for the weeks to come.
U14/3 V Baulkham Hills Loss 9-1
Welcome Ayman to the 14/3's. The score was not a true indicator of Baulkham Hills talent, they where not 8 goals better than us No way.
Our heads where not at the game, when we muck around with the little things we perhaps should have stayed home. We are all at the ground to play a team game as a team. Today I am sorry to say we where not a team that should wear the red of Ermington. Prove me wrong.
AAL4 v Guildford McCredie WIN 8-5
Welcome to the 2012 season and a massive congrats to the team for pulling together to bag a 8-5 win.
Tai-lei: thank you for being an awesome manager/coach for the day, your enthusiasm and yelling really pulled the team through the whole game.
Helen: machine, everywhere all the time!!
Chantelle: star forward and goal scorer! And very pretty!
Emma: fast forward and goal scorer, a lot of near goals
Kylie: practicing her Irish dancing skills again lol but played well between mid-forward position
Hayley: OMG pocket rocket!! Bagging 5 goals alone for the team, where has she been all our lives? Even had her help defence in goals at the very end!
Bec: well done again on your multi talents covering forward/mid/back positions and scoring a goal! Thanks also for bringing a cheer squad!
Jane: great defence and left sideline coverage! You were still full of energy at 90min mark
Cat: mostly back positions today and great defence, helped out the goalies big time!
Rach: OMG did this girl take a beating or what? She was hit, slapped, boot studded, stomped on and she was still great at defence.
Nic: great taking the ball up to the right sidelines and making them run and then you use your big boot to get the ball 30m or so to the waiting goal scorers!
Bou: massive thanks for stepping into be a great goalie in 1st half, and using your big boot in 2nd half to take the ball from their goals to our goals!
Steph: well what a fabulous job! After thinking I was going to die in the first half and again got ninja body slammed, I opted to goalie the 2nd half where my seductive dance moves saved a penalty goal from going in! It also helps that I knew the ref who was nice to let me get away with so many mistakes in goals!
Matt: for being my personal coach whilst I was in goals and telling me where to stand and yelling at me for dancing too much
Uty: for being a good looking team official
Andy: plz take note for us the next time we play Guildford McCredie, they get very very scared of when we mount an attack so we need to stick to them the whole time.
The new girls to the team have been a welcome addition and I think their presence has generally increased the confidence of the old gals and we're all hoping for a great season of many wins!!
Although now, we have like 10 fantastic forwards!!! It was a hot day, and we only had 1 sub also. We missed all the girls that couldn't be there today :(
Thanks for a great game and looking forward to a bumper season.
