MMC Cheerleading is a self-funded after school club, specialising in American style Cheerleading. It funds all competition fees and professional coaching through fundraising and moderate fees. The club started in 2009 with 15 members and has grown to 70 members in 2011. 2012 will see an increase in number of athletes with the introduction of Hip Hop dance.
Its primary purpose is to develop self-confidence, resilience, school spirit, self-respect, dignity and peaceful conflict resolution skills through involvement in an extreme sport such as cheerleading which requires commitment and trust amongst team members.
MMC Cheerleading has identified a number of projects for 2012. Sponsorship monies would be put towards the cost of erecting sprung floors ($45 000) for safety, professional gymnastic and acrobatics coaching and travel to the Australian All-stars Cheerleading Federation Nationals in Sydney on the 26 to 28 October 2012.
