North Bankstown Soccer Club was formed in 1953 and began playing in the 1954 season. The inaugural under 10,12 and 14 teams were quick to set the pattern for future years with a premiership and two runners-up pennants. By the early 1960s, the club membership was a reflection of the rapid growth of the North Bankstown and Yagoona area, at one stage the club fielded more than 30 teams in the Bankstown United Association of Soccer Clubs (BUSAC) competition.
Over the years, North Bankstown has competed in a number of successful premierships outside the district, these being the inter-suburban League and Amateur League in the early 1960s and the Metropolitan League in the late 1970s. The club was also a long time member of the NSW Soccer Federation's division one and two competitions.
In the mid 1980s, Norths fielded concurrent teams controlled by the NSW Soccer Federation, the NSW Amateur Soccer Federation (Youth) League and the BUSAC. The lack of financial support by way of adequate sponsorship and/or licensed club, meant it became necessary for North Bankstown to concentrate on the BUSAC.
By the late 1980s the ageing population of the area saw the club's teams drop to around 10, with this level being consolidated and maintained. One famous era in the club's history prior to the Premier League, was from 1970 when the club won 10 consecutive All Age premierships, including Champion of Champions and Amateur Cup competitions. In 2011, with the area's population having increased again, we fielded 35 teams ranging from under 6's, ladies teams and over 35's. 2011 also saw us win 4 premierships.
Long term club loyalty has been a feature of Norths and even now after 50 years early family names like Morrice, Northrop, Parry, Buckley, Stewart and Madden still proudly play for Norths.
Being in a lower socio-economic area, we believe that it is imperative that we keep registration costs to an affordable level, so that kids can get the opportunity to play soccer if they want to. We then seek to raise additonal funds to meet costs through canteen sales. Unfortunately, with a couple of seasons of bad weather that call games off, the opportuity to raise this money has been diminished, and we therefore find ourselves in need of additional sponsorship.
As a result, we are unable to buy gear such as benches etc, and are relying on old (and not necessarily stable) equipment to get by.
