Springwood Softball Club is a non-profit sporting club on the south side of Brisbane. Our club has been running for approximately 20 years, and of late, our numbers have dropped due to the exclusion of softball in the Olympics and the ever rising costs.
We are in the process of building our club through the development of juniors, increasing our numbers as they progress through their relevant age groups. Our club plays at Brisbane Softball Association from October to March each year, and currently have five teams, being two under 14 teams, two under 16 teams and a senior ladies team. One of our under 14 teams has players who qualify for under 12.
Not only are we developing our players, but 2010 will see the second year our club has toured to the Waverley Easter Carnival to participate in one of the largest junior softball carnivals in Australia. Our first year was 2009 where we took an under 16 team, and 2010 we have an under 16 and under 19 team. We not only have players from our club attend this carnival, but we also utilise players from other clubs to fill in vacant positions for players who cannot afford to attend.
Any funding we receive for our club will be returned to the players either by reduction of fees to encourage continued participation, and the purchase of equipment to ensure players have equipment that they do not have to purchase themselves. Our club is also looking at upgrading our training fields, which are in desperate need of work.
Any sponsors automatically have their logo placed on current correspondence and the club website.
Our club has a website www.eteamz.com/springwoodsoftball that we keep up to date with what is happening at club level, representative level and state level. The President of the club is Kylie Bruce (Brewster) who is heavily involved in running the club can be contacted at any time either via email, brewster1971@optusnet.com.au or mobile phone on 0412 278 239.
